Alternative Medicine
Review:Very informative book! I love that it can be used as a guide for anyone who wants to create a chemical-free home. I started mine! God bless you Dr. Axe, Jordan Rubin and Ty Bollinger for coming up with this amazing book! Read more
Review:"Jordan was diagnosed at age 19 with Crohn's-Colitis, an "incurable" inflammatory disease of the bowel. His weight plummeted from 180 lbs to 104 lbs at a height of 6'1" and he was bedridden for almost two years. As in most chronic conditions, Jordan's immune system began to fail. He suffered from intestinal parasites, severe candida, extreme anemia, food allergies, diabetes, excruciating abdominal pain, chronic diarrhea, poor circulation, liver problems, chemical sensitivities, chronic fatigue, ... Review:This book had some remarkable passages, but was simply too sprawling to sustain interest over its 600+ pages -- not exactly what you want to conclude about a book about mindfulness, alas. The book pretty much preaches the same message preached in "Wherever You Go, There You Are," which is a more focused tome, and in my opinion, a better place to start for those interested in the mindfulness-based approach to living advocated by Jon Kabat-Zinn. I would give this book 3.5 stars, rounded up to fo... Read more
Review:Very interesting and the author gave excellent explanations of why she wrote the book and how the gut and brain are so closely related. Too bad the title could keep some from picking it up. Her advice and information is great for anyone wanting to improve their body and mind. Read more
Review:Around the same age as Maria, the book echoed many of my own thoughts, challenges, concerns and hopes. I also bought this book for two friends celebrating milestone birthdays and another for a retirement gift. Read more
Review:This book gives an interesting take on the use of essential oils. Randi Minetor connects the use of essential oils to their use in the Bible. Minetor includes a good explanation of the use of oils throughout the Bible, including verses and analysis. There is a great chapter on the essential oils listed in the Bible, with a photo of the plant, their uses, substitutes, and any precautions. I particularly liked the chapter on recipes and remedies, which includes a variety of uses for essential ... Read more
Review:I already own this book and read it every morning along with my other books. I find it very helpful in my daily living. One of the things I like about is that it has a index where where you can look things up in it like happiness, the steps and anger. It tells things in very simple language. I highly recommend this book to go along with the twelve steps. Read more
Review:This book is described as one that "changes lives," which seems like a pretty big claim. Having read this book for probably the fifth time since it was given to me in 2000, I have to agree. It is inspirational, challenging, and something that everyone can benefit from reading. It can be a little metaphysical at parts, but the key message of happiness is what stands out the most. I love this book and will definitely continue reading it whenever I catch myself being anything other than unreasonabl... Read more
Review:For decades I suffered from severe bouts of acid reflux and heartburn several times each week. Then I began taking a daily supplement of 1,000 mg of chelated magnesium for another seemingly-unrelated ailment. To my pleasant surprise the supplemental magnesium not only cured the ailment for which I was taking it, it also completely stopped my episodes of acid reflux and heartburn. I have since learned that acid reflux is often the result of stomach spasms which cause acid (which healthy stomachs ... Read more
Review:This book is... incomplete. I had hoped for a more thorough exploration of the Traditional Chinese Medicine systems I learned in Massage Therapy school, where we learned the basics of acupressure and some herbs. Thiis book is highly westernized and leaves out a great deal. To give you an idea it doesn't even include a map of the meridians, and makes no mention of some of them. Read more
