Review:Burnt Offerings is one of the best action packed books of the series. Some of the earlier ones focused more on the police work and this does too but it also gets really into Anita's personal life (and relationships) and has some moments where you wonder who's going to make it. Great as always, Laurell K. Hamilton! Absolutely loved it and can't wait to get the next one. Read more
Review:There is a dose of politics in this one, both the human kind, and the vampire kind. The human issue is one of separatism, basically, as the Humans First organisation wants more information on and the ability to get rid of, the vampire power structures in the city.
This book again has Edward, which is always good.
Imagine if the Executioner or the Punisher got bored with hunting and killing crims and decided on something trickier, and you have a bit of an idea what Edward is about. ... Read more
Review:"Obsidian Butterfly" is book 9 in the Anita Blake series. It is very well written, full of suspense and mystery. Even though we have already met Edward, we never actually got to know more about him, except that he is a scary character who kills monsters and has no remorse. He usually just appears and disappears without trace. But in this particular book we are invited in to his world......
Edward invites Anita to his home town, for her to help him solve an unusually messy crime. We meet h... Read more
Review:I thought this was a good book, yes it could have been better, and it ended to suddenly. But it was still good. I like the pissing matches with law enforcement. I think alot of is done well. She is sleeping with the monsters, alot of the rumors are true about her. It's hard to respect a girl that is sleeping with so many men. So, she has to earn professional respect everywhere she goes. I think that would be true. Now this book doesn't have the sex scenes on every page like alot of the others, a... Read more
Review:I bought this in the airport when my flight was delayed. I wish I hadn't. Aside from paying full price for a book that is double-spaced, large type, and has wide margins, the story wasn't there. Too much sex, not enough zombie. Anita is barely likeable anymore. The others have gone into the details very well so I won't bother.
I wish I could trade this book in as a coupon for a full-length, good quality Anita Blake story. Read more
Review:I loved these books. Could not put them down. I read the Twilight series first and really enjoyed them. Then I moved on to the Sookie Books and loved them even more. The content is more adult and I just love the action and characters. Totally addictive, HIGHLY RECOMEND! Read more
Review:This might be the best novel by King that I've read so far, as far as pacing goes. It's straight to the point and doesn't lag which makes for fast reading. I finished it in two days, a first for a King book. I had a hard time putting it down. This was an interesting concept which I felt worked; I never read anything like it before. It's like reading a transcript. It has a realistic feel to it, and for once, the dialogue wasn't cringe worthy at all, another first for King's work. I've read all th... Read more
Review:I really enjoyed this book, the star of the book, Mac was very likeable. Early Stephanie Plum :) with lots of paranormal fantasy thrown in.
The book left me wanting to know more about her fellow employees especially Ian her vampire bodyguard and trainer. Can't wait for the next installment. Read more
Review:I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was an interesting fun read that kept me coming back for more. And unlike so many other books where it takes so long to get to the climax and then it's over so fast, this had a very satisfying pace and ending. If you're into witches, this is a great book to try. Review:Del Toro's trilogy is a great addition to the genre, I just wish the books were better written. In The Strain, book 1 in the series, the first 100 pages are excellent. Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan's intro to the series is as suspenseful and scary as Ive read. But then it seems as if they get bored with the process of writing and rushed through the rest of the book stringing the plot together. There are memorable atmospheric moments and characters here and there, but they are stitched to... Read more
