Misty of Chincoteague
Misty of Chincoteague

Review:I had originally purchased this book for one of my daughters. The only type of book that she would even look at were those that involved horses. While my daughter read this book long ago, it has just remained sitting on my digital shelf.

This is not a type of story that would attract me. If I venture into children's chapter books I usually stick to the worlds of science fiction or fantasy. However, there is no doubt that this is an amazing book.

The writing is splendid. The storyte... Read more

Black Beauty (Dover Children's Evergreen Classics)

Review:I'm not a big fan of talking animal books, so maybe my opinion shouldn't count, but I didn't really like it. I understand the message of the book, but it just wasn't for me. It was well written, but I didn't feel emotionally connected to any of the characters. Read more

Pete the Cat: Big Easter Adventure
Pete the Cat: Big Easter Adventure

Review:My daughter is pretty obsessed with all the Pete the Cat books and honestly they're all a perfect addition to our nighttime routine. I saw this one was cheap AND hardcover and got excited. The excitement didn't stop when we received the book considering I had no idea there were Easter cards, a poster, and stickers included.... My daughter was over the moon and we immediately took out the cards and wrote them out for all her friends. Read more

Pete the Cat: Valentine's Day Is Cool
Pete the Cat: Valentine's Day Is Cool

Review:Here comes Pete again with another story about being true to yourself. I love the messages that Pete shares in his stories and this book is no exception. This is a funny story about all the different clothes Pete's friends think he should wear. In an attempt to be "cool", Pete wears everything at once! I love the drawing style and the deadpan expression of Pete. What's silly is how my 3 year old is able to tell if Pete is happy or sad even though his expression doesn't change much. A great conve... Pete at the Beach (My First I Can Read) - Pete the Cat

Review:A hit with young readers. Pete is the right blend of fun with a gentle dose of life lesson (sharing, sportsmanship, trying new things, etc.)
Some Pete books are better than others and this is one of the handful I buy multiple copies of to give to children in our Reading to Dogs program. Read more
