Review:Every single one of Carols Zafon's books are over the top. I can never put them down. And he always ties the endings up in a pretty little bow. The characters are very true to life.Excellent, excellent writer. Read more
Review:The story premise sounds promising and delightfully Ken Follett-esque. However, after just 20 pages I am not sure that I will finish this book as the writing is choppy, repetitive and often difficult to follow even seemingly simple plot sequences. Read more
Review:I bought this book with great excitement and greater expectations, having read his two previous and excellent novels and waiting for Zafon's newer materials, I found myself disappointed. Even though this book is very well written it didn't pull me or keep me guessing like the others, the story is somewhat predictable and even boring at times. This book is not hard to put down :( Read more
Review:Esta es una novela intrigante, una continuación de Sombra del Viento, entrelazando los temas de amor, ambición, misterio, lo súper natural, en que el lector entra el mundo de los personajes y los acompaña en su viaje cual es lleno de amor y tristeza. Read more
Review:Caitlin Moran, thank you for this book. It was so funny and a great reminder that the women's movement hasn't gone anywhere. I am so glad I didn't have to wait too long for Moranthology to follow. I have read both books several times in the past 30 days. I love them. Read more
Read more
Review:A great little satire filled with wit, sarcasm and ultimately distress. Candide lives a life of artificial optimism which ultimately turns to distress, rejection of religion and a decision to "cultivate one's garden". Candide Finds an idyllic place called El Dorado and leaves there a very wealthy man only to slide to near poverty. A delightful and thoughtful novel well worth the small investment of time. Read more
Review:Delightful reading - now I am anxious to read the play by Lucas Hnath which is a sequel titled A Doll's House, Part 2 and is being performed in NYC at the present time. The sequel is said to be consistently funny. Read more
Review:This writer changed literature. From his writings, Journey and Death on Credit are ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENTS for the canon that is contemporary literature. Without Celine, we would have no basis on which to rest Kerouac, we would be missing, dare I say, Kurt Vonnegut as we know him. This writer influenced them all. You can not help but hate him in his manifest destiny of dismal sadness. Nothing is good enough for him, he is cynical, sees life as ultimately humiliating. He does have moments of joy. M... Review:This book changed my life. There is one life before understanding Gracian and another life thereafter. I gave it away to more than 30 friends throughout more than 10 years. I made its reading mandatory to each one of my 4 children. My friends and I use to refer to its aforism as religious men refer to Bible salms. Last week I responded a request for advise from a friend: "Apply Gracian # 138". Regards. Read more
