Review:"Vagabonding" is an innovative, inspirational, intellectual, thought-provoking read. But it is also practical and the ideas entailed are approachable and logical. It exceeded my expectations by far and away. I purchased the book for a friend, and after reading it was loathe to part with it. I'm purchasing another for myself.
The book is loading with practical advice; Rolf Potts also puts a fresh spin on worldview in general and on life's specific conundrums, pleasures, and problems--all from ... Read more
Review:Not your ordinary how-to guide at all. Chuck Wendig kept me laughing as he pointed out the numerous pitfalls on the writer's path. Every penmonkey and aspiring penmonkey should read this, even if you've already read a thousand guides for writers -- the hilarious asides and examples are moca-fudge frosting on a big old chocolate cake of good advice.
Note: There is a bit of bad language, so if you can't stand curse words... well, you'll be missing out. Read more
Review:Nice to have. Was a little disappointed after reading through it considering it costs the same as a PHB, MM, or DMG, but overall its OK. I like most of the monsters included, just wish it was a little more. Read more
Review:In discussing this book with my friends and co-workers, I found that they reacted with the same "raised-eyebrow shock" that I did. But what we also shared was the same mis-quided, media driven vision of a person that was suposedly unquestionable. After reading this book, intently I might add, I wanted answers. I want to know where all the donations to Mother Teresa's organiztion has gone because it certainly hasn't gone to the poor. I want to know why Mother Teresa has posed in pictures with... Read more
Review:At first I enjoyed this book because I also learned to speak Italian in my 30s, and I am interested in her perspectives on language and the construction of the self. Did I say self? This was self, self, self, and full of narcissistic repetition. Congratulations, you learned to write 8th grade Italian. Then you gave us the same tired, pseudo-profound observations, over and over. This was at best a magazine article. Clearly translator Ann Goldstein saved the day. Prioprio noioso, anche per una pers... Read more
Review:Every busy parent and professional, or recent retiree needs to read this book. Beautifully written with many quotes you'll want to write down to remember. Being still is necessary in a fast paced world like ours! Read more

Review:I liked this book. Why? Because Louis L'Amour liked to read in the same way that I like to read. Just whatever caught his attention at the moment, or even whatever was available to read wherever he was at any time. No program or agenda. And he had the same motives as I do- he simply wanted to engage in the human experience, to learn more about people: our history, our psychology, what we do and why. He wasn't a very sophisticated guy. He doesn't analyze any one writer for much more than a... Read more
Review:First of all, the book is gorgeous. The pages are of good quality and the illustrations are amazing. And it is a additional stimulus for understanding the concepts that you're currently reading. The book enriched my feeble knowledge on the creative process of storytelling.
On the back of the book it says something about "Essential for any aspiring or intermediate writer,....". I disagree. I think it's pretty accessible for any person that are curious about the subject. My knowledge is pretty ... Read more
