Review:This is the most effective and affordable way to get published. Because of this, I have successfully published my first novel "Fallacious" and I am so proud to finally be a part of the writing community! Read more
Review:This book is worth the price only for the chapters dealing with the history of Marxist strategy in America, where Bretibart shows the connections and evolution from a hard line Leninist violent takeover of society to a soft cultural Marxist revolution that we see today, going through Antonio Gramsci and the School of Frankfurt. The fact that these concepts have been disclosed to the mass public is a great achievement for Breitbart. Americans have this strange notion that "this can't happen here... Read more
Review:Francine Prose knows prose. In "Reading Like a Writer," she presents the timeless truth that great writers are great readers of great writers. More than that, Prose parses how to read well, which in our hurried, image-driven age, has become something of a lost art, even for literature lovers.
She not only encourages and explains the reading of the classics, Prose also offers a diet rich in vignettes from an egalitarian menu of authors. She is like a chef who tells you to eat great food, t... Read more

Annette's words are captivating and touch your heart and soul. We read this for our book club and were fortunate enough to meet her. She is an incredibly sincere and genuine woman. Review:One of the most interesting things about how this author writes is her intimacy. Often written in narrow minded ways, this book is so ideal for those wanting to write compelling, emotion scenes regardless of sex or not happening. Read more
Review:I have been teaching writing and using this book for over five years. It has been beyond invaluable for me and my students, and I don't know how I am going to live without it.
The earlier, brown version is not the greatest, but the "Revised and Expanded" 1995 edition (blue cover) is fabulous. We were supposed to get a new 2000 edition in January, but now I heard that Prentice-Hall has decided not to do the new edition. So "What If?" is now out of print. NO! Read more
Review:I teach creative writing in the UCLA Writer's Program (online) and always recommend this book to my students as one of the two best books (along with Janet Burroway's "Writing Fiction") on the craft of writing ever penned. I have used the information in this book time and again in writing my own novels and stories ("The Death of Tarpons" (novel), "Monday's Meal" (story collection), "Over Easy" (thriller forthcoming from Random House, 1999). A more intelligent book than this has yet to be wr... Read more
Review:I am going through Ann Whitford Paul's book, "Writing Picture Books," now, and I love it. It's teaching me more about writing rich, layered books that I ever could've learned on my own. I'm actually using it as a textbook, taking notes, making the signs to post by my computer as she suggests, reading the books she refers to, and doing the homework "before you go on" activities at the end of each chapter.
I've been struggling with two historical fiction stories that aren't all rainbows and... Read more
