Review:How to keep it working optimally. I was aware of some of the techniques he discusses for enhancing brain function but was blown away by many of the insights and techniques he discusses that I didn't know about. One important change I have made in my lifestyle from reading this book is to exercise more to keep the brain happy and fit.
Absolutely NO reservations about recommending this book to anyone (at any level of knowledge about the brain) interested in learning about your most comple... Read more
Review:A very insightful book. You walk away with an understanding of how illusions of reality are formed in our minds. The writer has thoroughly documented his presentation. However, I found the detailed case descriptions to be a bit more elaborate than I was interested in, so I had to skim through them to get to the next eye-opening concept. Read more
Review:Kevin Richardson has a life doing what he loves - taking care of big carnivores and their small cubs. His early life included lots of taking care of sick or abandoned animals, and two failed attempts to follow his older brother into veterinary school. Fortunately, Kevin ended up meeting a person who had just bought a nearby animal park.
Kevin explains why it is important to know the animals and their different personalities. He learned to related to them as a fellow lion - getting down on... Read more
Review:The recent demise of American across many landscapes is based upon fact, not opinion. This book does a great job tracing how it happened, and what (hopefully) can be done to get us back on course. In the meantime, hedge your bets and start learning Mandarin. Read more
Review:The author was able to convey a difficult subject into laymen's terms. Every body must know what is in the book about the network, because, we are all members of it. It is a politically neutral book. The author does not express any of his own views when he examines social issues. It is rather a math book than a self-help book. The discussed topics are the latest development in the field of mathematics, but you do not have to be a Mathematician to read or understand it. You can even use the knowl... Read more
Review:This is a book written in a journalistic style. Some of the historical information, for example related to Bachelier and his work conflicts with the information I have. Frankly, I am not sure which is right, but that is not so important.
My problem with the book is that it may be confusing to many who are not versed in the subject of economics and math. The author spends half of the book writing about the limitations of math, and the other half about how great has math been for economics.... Read more

Review:This is not an environmental disaster book. The assumption is that humans have disappeared and the author looks at how long traces of our civilization will last. Fascinating! It provides amazing insights into the things we build and how they fall apart. Excellent for anyone interested in how our human works interact with the "real" world without our further input. Review:Science is a polarized field of study where you either believe there's a vaccine or pill for everything...or you look to your nearest shrubbery to find some homeopathic remedy. Whatever your viewpoint, Jo Marchant takes the road in between with the idea that our minds are oftentimes the most powerful tool we can use to combat illness.
Unlike other science books where the authors know little about science and a lot about speculation, Marchant has a PhD in genetics and medical microbiology.... Read more
