Review:One of the best writers in America has really produced a dud. I understand and agree with everything, but it is very poorly written. I have lost respect for him because of this book. I am sure the only reason it was published was because he is David Brooks. Read more
Review:Bill Bryson's latest book is the story of the founding of the Royal Society of London, a unique group if there ever was one. Founded in 1660, it has done more to advance science than any other institution in the world including all the great English universities, including the great German institutions of the late 19th and early 20th centuries where so much applied science was achieved, and including our finest schools in the early part of this century.

Review:I have used this book in my Biology class twice so far and I love it! One thing that my friends and I found is that you should really read the directins on the first page because if you don't you could mess up the whole book. The major two things is that u need to remember to use pen and to rip out the periodic table to put inbetween the sets of copies so that they don't bleed through. Its really a great tool for school! Review:It was very useful during my lab section. The only problem I had was that I forgot to place the divider or wrote on top of the sheets as I did my calculations, which left many marks behind. In all, it was very useful. Read more
Review:Modern physics is based on the theories of general relativity and quantum mechanics, both of which have been proven true, which creates a devastating problem. Mathematically, the theories contradict each other and, according to Greene, cannot coexist. This problem led physicists like Einstein to try and find a universal theory that underlies these two and allows them to work harmoniously. They brought on the string theory, which is considered to be the complete theory that contains all of our... Read more
Review:The book is brilliant!!! Steven Hawking is brilliant. I must admit that I had to read each page VERY slowly and tried to digest it; then reading a lot more of it again. It is above me. I tried to follow his thinking; and although the book was said to be written for the "common"man; it is definitely not an easy read. However, I appreciate the intelligent mind that wrote it and admire all the work done trying to figure out our universe. Even if I did not understand it completely, I loved readi... Read more

Review:This is a very moving book that makes you realize that it is not money that buys you happiness but service and compassion to your fellow human beings. As a doctor, we all start out for altruistic reasons but the demands and stresses of practicing medicine in today's world can make you lose some of that feeling. I find that now that I am retired and seeing poor patients for free, I feel more connected to the reason I went into medicine in the first place and am enjoying it more.

Review:Covered the evolutionary process thoroughly from day one to today. I learned of eras I had no idea existed. Seems like our schools can't go back beyond dinosours. I had no idea of the formation of the moon and its relationship with earth. I listened to the story as an audio book, then I had to get an ebook copy. Read more
