Review:I can't say that this book was entertaining. However, this is a must read for those who are unaware of the events in the south during the early years of the Civil Rights movements. Freshwater road is extremely realistic and historically correct. The book is fiction but the described events are real. Well worth the time it took to read. Read more

Review:I am truly convinced that the author has her publishing team writing all these positive reviews...this book was horrible. Part 1 was pushing the envelope, but
I wanted to see what was going to happen so I picked up part 2, and I wish I hadn't. There were so many typos that I had to 're-read each sentence 3 or 4 times to make sure I was reading them correctly. The characters were all over the place and parts of the book seemed rushed...and instead of going " Wow I didn't see that coming" you ... Read more
Review:I honestly couldnt put this book down. I read God Don't Like Ugly and as good as it was I had to stop everytime there was an encounter with Mr. Boatwright. I just had to find out the rest of the story. Ms. Monroe has a way of making you feel like you know the characters personally. Read more
Review:I found the book disappointing. I guess I fell for the hype of the movie which I didn't see. I was happy that the character was able to move on and make something of herself but the book was not my cup of tea. Read more
Review:Rich in atmosphere of the "bayou city," Houston, Texas; rich in atmosphere of an area so oil-rich that "black gold" rises right to the ground surface; and rich in atmosphere of the Civil Rights struggle of the '60s, carried forward twenty years to the '80s setting of the book. ANYone would be proud to be able to say that this was his/her first book. Read more

Review:Okay Chase...you did that! This book had me from beginning to end, definitely a page turner. I love Mase and Riley together, their chemistry was everything. It appears they have plenty of obstacles in their immediate future (best friends, exes and secret lives) that could make or break their relationship. I am patiently awaiting part two, i know is going to be lit! Read more
