Review:This series of books always leaves you wanting more. The circle of relationships always end at family. It is so hard to imagine family or even people being this dirty. But it is a reality for some people. Glad I'm reading about it and not living it. Waiting for the next one. POOR Tashara!! Read more
Review:An unusual and detailed perspective on the historic John Brown raid on the US armory at Harper's Ferry. Told from the point of view of a "high yellow" 12 year old boy, as he reflects in old age. While too detailed at times, this re-telling of events related to the pre Civil War pro and anti-slavery mood is a gem. Read more
Review:I grabbed this disc at random from the library and was hooked from the first page. Just finished it today. Pretty sure I will buy the written version. Need I say more? I found myself sitting in my truck, late for work listening to the amazing story. The "Gimp" will stay with me for a long time, as well as the scene where Patty looses her boot in the swamp.

Review:Honestly, this isn't the typical hood story. Of course, you have the drug world, poor parenting, and bad choices represented. What really got me is this young girl dedicating herself to taking care of her younger siblings and not taking steps to become independent herself. So through all the other drama sure to take place as this story progresses in the following book /books, I hope she finds herself and her drive to be her best for herself and her siblings. Read more
Review:"Mama" held my interest. I love Terry McMillian's storytelling skills. She's creative and wrote an unpredictable novel. The novel was realistic and I could relate to the story about some of the things that happened in my childhood. I was cheering for the family and was glad that they were turning their life around until the story ended abruptly. "Mama" gets 4 stars because of the abrupt ending. It needed a least a few more chapters or epilogue to bring the novel to full circle.

Review:Ivy Symone is my favorite author, she seriously never writes a bad book, all of her novels are awesome. This book was not an exception, Eli is one of my favorite characters of hers and to see him pop up in this book was such a plesant surprise! This book was such a rollercoaster, at first I thought I had the mystery Maestro figured out and then as the book went on I put two and two together and had to go back and re-read certain parts to make sure I wasnt tripping! That was SO very unexpected an... Read more
