A Sand County Almanac (Outdoor Essays & Reflections)
A Sand County Almanac (Outdoor Essays & Reflections)

Review:A very important book for our times. Leopold's message is to this day still being ignored by this country's power-brokers.
Beautifully written classic. A must-read for high school students and should be part of the curriculum. Read more

The Hidden Battles to Collect Your Data and Control Your World
The Hidden Battles to Collect Your Data and Control Your World

Review:lots of good points and calls for political action. Not the easiest book to read though (it was a slog to finish it).
But a note for those reading it on Kindle, the last third of the book is references, so don't drop it
if you're 50% of the way through and have no idea how he can go on for the rest of the book, you're almost at the end. Read more

Dark Territory: The Secret History of Cyber War
Dark Territory: The Secret History of Cyber War

Review:Still reading the book but already found some errors that detract from my enjoyment of the material.

You'd think a book about cybersecurity would at least use a proofreader or editor that would know the difference between a silicon "die" and "dye".

They also clearly didn't get a good enough explanation of things like BGP and denial-of-service attacks. I found this disheartening. Read more

Little Failure: A memoir
Little Failure: A memoir

Review:Really enjoyed reading Little Failure. Gary has a dark sense of humor. It reminded me so much of my own immigrant household and the experience of growing up with people who wanted the best for their children but were not sure exactly what that entailed in America. Read more

The Truth Behind Death at Columbine High School - No Easy Answers
The Truth Behind Death at Columbine High School - No Easy Answers

Review:I know Brooks knew the Killers personally, I don't dispute his claims at all, But the general consensus of evidence seems to be that Eric & Dylan did what they did for "Apocolyptic fame" more then revenge.

I wish brooks would do a follow up explaining why he feels this way, but the book itself is very good & gives you a insiders prospective. Read more

The Myth of Male Power
The Myth of Male Power

Review:Around the time he published his most recent and to date most radical book, "The Myth of Male Power," Warren Farrell released these audiocassettes of the same title. Farrell's own recommendation of these tapes as the second step in educating the uninitiated about men's issues (the tapes of "Why Men Are the Way They Are" being the first step) is very well-taken. Information and philosophy are presented engagingly, accessibly, with little fluff or fanfare. Indeed, given Farrell's measured,... Read more

The Anarchist Cookbook
The Anarchist Cookbook

Review:I bought this simply because so many think no one should be allowed to have it and that was good enough for me, so I orderd it. I haven't read it but I am sure it is prominently placed in my book shelf so it will be as controversial as possible to all my peace love and stoner friends. I actually have no desire to know the stuff in the book but I really don't like people telling me they have read it and others should not be allowed to because it didn't hurt them but others can't handle it. The Underground Classic That Explains How Marketing Really Works--and Why Authenticity Is the Best Marketing of All

Review:I stumbled upon this book while searching for ways to improve my ability to convey my ideas in business settings. I watched Seth Godin's TED talks so I was familiar with some of his viewpoints and advice. The book was great and easy to understand the points he was trying to make. I'd recommend this book. An Autobiography--The True Story of a Black Youth's Coming of Age in Apartheid South Africa
An Autobiography--The True Story of a Black Youth's Coming of Age in Apartheid South Africa

Review:I enjoyed this book but was disappointed at the sudden ending. I was left with a need to know more about what happened when he left home and if he ever returned. It makes me feel such anger at the way apartheid was so accepted by the white South Africans. Read more
