Review:I enjoyed this book more then I expected. It's a know story yet it suprised me. Specialy by its humour. It's a small book so you can read it in 2/3 days and good enough to make you want to do the voyage yourself. Read more
Review:Friends go fishing in Ireland. They find ruins of a manor house. Find book inside. Book tells of terrible experience by brother and sister who lived in the house years before. It gets stranger and stranger. Of course in about 100 pages you don't lose much time. Read more
Review:I love Gitanjali and needed to replace my worn out copy. I returned one to Amazon because it was so badly designed as to be hard to read. This one is only somewhat better. All the poems are run together as though it is one big prose piece. I kept it because I was tired of shopping, but I'm disappointed. Read more
Review:Jugs of red wine, the first ever poetry reading for Ginsberg's epic "Howl", Zen Buddhism and mountain climbing...
What more could ANY Dharma Bum EVER dream of?!
I first read this in my early teens and found it a much relaxed less stressed read juxtaposed to "On the road" which Kerouac wrote in a flourish of cracked vicks inhalers rolled up into little balls and tossed into coffee in three weeks.
Gary Snyder is also a "centered" character in the novel (Japhy Ryder). I have ALWAYS suggest... Read more

Quick & Dirty: I really enjoyed this novel, all but one aspect: the romance. It was insta-love and traveled way to fast.
Opening Sentence: Today is my last day as Violet Lasting.
The Review:
A circular, lone city lies behind a great wall that keeps out the ocean that threatens to engulf it. In this city the people are separated into groups, with the Jewel at the center filled with the royalty, and the Marsh at the edge of the w... Read more
Review:I recommend this to anyone who enjoyed "The Selection" series. This romance was very well written but a bit disappointing. I expected a longer book and it lasted me hardly two hours. It still fails to explain how the couple got where they did but does give the reader a better understanding of both Queen Amberly and the King. Read more

Review:Saw the high recommendations and decided to check this one out. And goodness, was I disappointed. I'm a huge fan of adventure stories and was looking forward to the Indiana Jones feel of this. But I never got there. Too many irritating things drowned out any thrill of adventure. I read about 3/4 of the way through, then gave up. I felt no connection to any of the characters. The dialogue was too flat, the plot line too predictable, and the characters too unbelievable. The boys didn't talk like b... Read more
