Review:I love the book but it was not what I expected. It is smaller than what I thought and was looking for the orginal size. This is not what I am looking for since I have most of Terry Brooks books in original form. Read more
Review:Haven't read a Shannara book in a while, so I decided to give this a shot. It was fun. Not earth shaking, but fun. That was clearly what Brooks was going for though since the scale is much smaller, and I think he succeeded. Read more
Review:The Sword of Shannara Trilogy is deep and rich, grand in scope, and full of adventure that catches it's readers up. The family member heroes and their companions thrill and beguile, conquering dark forces. Read more
Review:When it comes to “The Measure of magic” – Book Two of the Legends of Shannara, Terry Brooks mixes the ingredients of high adventure in perfect proportions.
The remnants of mankind have not learned the harsh lessons inflicted upon them over five hundred years before that led to them being sequestered from the rest of a world ravaged by a demon instigated nuclear war. Come to that, neither have the elves, nor the other races that came into the hidden valley along with them.

Review:Since this book. I have finished the entire series. How Terry Brooks ties all the stories together was masterful. Read them all!!!! Do not skip any. And for the purpose of the series. Read them in order! You get a lot more insight as to the situations the characters face and gain a knowledge of their fate and their need to face their challenges! Love it fully! Read more
Review:Terry Brooks delivers again in High Druid of Shannara. This continues the story after the Voyage of the Jerle Shannara trilogy. Was a fun read, but can only give 4 stars, because I'm comparing with his earlier classics, like the Sword of Shannara or the Elfstones (personal favorite). The High druid series takes you to the other side of the demon the prison created by the Ellcrys, the forbidding. I enjoyed reading this story as it helped me to better picture the harsh home of the demons in the ... Read more
Review:Straken completes the 3 book series of the High Druid of Shannara. Tanequil (book 2) ends up with Pen Ohmsford's completion of his task to obtain the darkwand to free his aunt, Grianne Ohmsford, Ard Rhys of the Third Druid Council, from the Forbidding. Pen gives himself up to the druids (who swiftly return him to Paranor to let the new Ard Rhys, Shadea A'ru deal with him herself) that have been pursuing him in order to expedite his return to Paranor to attempt a rescue of Grianne Ohmsford. Review:Hardcover book was delivered with torn binding twice... boxes were fine in each occasion, which tells me they were already torn when placed into the box for shipping.
Returned first time around as the tear was really bad, but second copy was less damaged so I just kept it. Read more
Review:I'm sorry, I'm one of those who love Shannara. I'm always looking for the newest entry. The short stories are nice filler. It's a sneaky way to keep us in contact with the characters we know and places we remember. Read more
Review:I had planned to purchase this book regardless of what any reviewers said simply because I was already committed to the series and wanted to know what happened.
For whatever reason, this particular book was burdened with far too much useless dialog that did little to develop the story. There are too many pages of text devoted to boring, pointless conversations among the characters (or to the private thoughts of given characters). There was comparatively little action. It's almost as thoug... Read more
