Review:I love language and one can hear the sounds of Ireland in Conor McBride, our reluctant M16 agent. And again when he experiences India we discover with him the wonders and sounds of spoken Hindu. Kathryn Guare becomes a travel writer as she propels her thriller into foreign lands. Quite an accomplishment. Read more
Review:The essential theme of this sequel emerges and develops with the same exciting thoughtful prose and rapid action--but this theme is more about moving on and redemption than the Shantaram theme of exile. The characters are memorable, as vivid in my imagination as Durrell's characters in The Alexandrian Quartet, years ago. How I hated getting to the thin pages signaling the end of this adventure! Review:After the travesty of "The Gathering" being named the best work of fiction in 2007, I had given up on the Booker as the standard bearer of quality or guide for readers of serious fiction. I am therefore delighted to say that with last year's choice for the prestigious award, my faith in the committee's judgment has been restored. Aravind Adiga's debut novel, "The White Tiger (WT)" could be the most contemporary and relevant prize winner of the past 5 years. In a year when the feel good movie "Sl... Read more
Review:I knew how much Dan Wells' I am Not a Serial Killer had impressed me when the first thing I did after finishing it was to open the Kindle Store on my device and--without bothering to look at the synopsis or review of Mr. Monster--order the next book in the John Wayne Cleaver series. I'm not an impulse buyer, and to be quite honest I spend most of my shopping time browsing the "free books" section at Kindle. But this time, there was no hesitation.
I am Not a Serial Killer is a tremendous r... Read more
Review:(Source: I own a copy of this book.)
16-year-old Kira lives in a world where humans are dying out. After the emergence of a deadly disease called RM 11 years ago, 99% of the human population was wiped out, and the last known human colony lives on long island.
RM continues to be deadly though, and not a single human baby has survived for more than 3 days in the last 11 years, and people are getting desperate. The Hope Act states that all females over the age of 18 must get pregnant, and... Read more
Review:So many things happening in so little time! That seems to be the main motto of Fragments. Kira is still searching for a way to cure both the Partials and the Humans and this goal leads her to many surprising discoveries. Meanwhile Marcus is trying to replicate the cure without success. The worst thing though is that the Partials are threatening to start a war if they can't get their hands on Kira. Fragments is the living proof that sequels CAN be as good as their prequels, or even better!
Review:Wow. This book was really good. Lot's of action, multiple story lines, great characters with their own personality, and events happen where you think - naw that's not going to happen, someone will 'save the day', but no .. it happens.
The ending fight scene was really good and a kick-ass character is lost, but it was so fitting .. and just worked so well into the story.
Good job Dan!!

Read more
Review:Dan Brown has become a very reliable author whom I can count on for an excellent story, strong characters and an engrossing plot. I read this book when it first was released and thoroughly enjoyed it. This edition is very well enhanced with the inclusion of the images of the objects and places referred in the narrative. I also hope to see another outing with Robert Langdon at some point in the future! Read more
Review:It is a good read and first book from a new author as I understand it to be. I do not find it at a level other reviewers compaired to Cussler or Preston & Childs. I found the authors story line at times to come across as very effeminate and thought I was reading a book by a female author untill about half through when I looked the author up. I will purchase the next book in this story line stated to be in the works, and believe this author will be a good one to follow as he gains experien... Read more
