Review:This was a great read - it drew me in from the beginning. The story-line was well written, great balance and twists and the characters were realistic and very likable. There was just something about Olivia and Vincent - loved them together. You won't want to miss this read. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. Read more

Review:Not my favorite King book. It didn’t grab me right from the beginning and The main character was not that likeable. It could have moved faster. However, it was a sane and satisfying ending that I leaned into from the middle to the end. It was just the beginning that dragged a bit. Still worth a read Read more

Hearts in Atlantis

Review:This is the King of yesteryear. A very tight book- well conceived and very emotionally captivating. The book is divided into the three sections of very different lengths. The first section is terrific. The second section was interesting but I wasn't sure where it was going (not as riveting as Section 1). And then came the tidy little ending- the last section- which pulled all of those little loose ends together adding a poignant twist that'll bring a tear to your eye. A touch of the old su... Firestarter

Review:Eight-year-old Charlie McGee was born with the most destructive power a human being has ever commanded and now the government wants her for its own insane reasons. The premise is scary, the plot is as gripping as any other King novel, and the action is fast and furious as Charlie (a young girl) and her father are on the run from a government agency that has discovered their supernatural powers. But the very fact that they attack her makes Charlie so angry that she uses her power to destroy the m... Read more

Skeleton Crew: Stories
Skeleton Crew: Stories

Review:I have read a good deal of King's novels and this is one of my favorites. His best work is his short stories, and this is the best collection of them. Variety is the name of the game: it starts off with The Mist, a schlocky B movie of a tale. We get some science fiction (The Jaunt, Beachworld), standard horror (the raft), and even some modern fantasy (Mrs. Todd's Shortcut). Survivor Type is on of the most truly horrific stories I have read. Others are just plain fun such as Typewriter of th... Read more

Misery: A Novel
Misery: A Novel

Review:Stephen King did a fanastic job with this novel. I suppose I have read novels from cover to cover in one sitting before, but I don't remember doing so with a novel this large before. This novel is that good. I remember thinking, I will just see how this part plays out and then go to bed, I went to sleep four hours later. This novel has so many plot twists it scared me. I was sure Paul was managing fine, then she revealed everything she knew, and wham, Paul lost some appendages. Then I thought I ... Read more

Everything's Eventual: 14 Dark Tales
Everything's Eventual: 14 Dark Tales

Review:Most of the stories in Stephen King's first new collection of short fiction in nine years are pretty darn eventual. As the narrator of the title story, "Everything's Eventual," points out, if you want to say something's awesome, but you don't want to sound like every other Joe, you say it's eventual.
Stephen King is a much different writer today than he was when he penned the direct, but effective horror stories in the late sixties and early seventies that comprised his first collection of sh... Read more

Night Shift

Review:OVERALL REVIEW:

Excellent anthology, all of the stories - many of them admirably varied in their sense of horrors - have something to recommend them. This is one of my all-time favorite story anthologies.

STANDOUT STORIES:

1.) "Jerusalem's Lot": An evil, haunted town repeatedly draws members of a cursed family into its Lovecraftian clutches over centuries. This is a loosely linked prequel to the novel 'Salem's Lot.

2.) "Graveyard Shift": A Fourth of July cleaning... Read more

Gerald's Game
Gerald's Game

Review:I can see this as one of those zany Billy Crystal movies--were it not for the fact that Billy as Gerald would croak in the first scene. Reality check--time out! It this story, Gerald and Jessie go to their cabin out in the wilderness, where Gerald decides to "enhance" their lovemaking with a mild bondage trick. He binds her wrists and ankles to the bedposts--and breaks his fool neck! Literally. The rest of the story puts Jessie in the position of a woodchuck caught in a trap. She's got a hus... Read more

Christine
Christine

Review:Stephen King's novel "Christine" was published in 1983 and later in the year, on the heels of the success of the book, a movie version hit theatres.

The novel deals with a young man who, in 1983, purchases an old run down automobile from 1958 for $250.00. Unknown to the teenager the car is possessed by evil forces and a series of wild mishaps and horrifying events eventually take place.

To many "Christine" is the equivilent to "Jaws on Wheels" and the the main character is indeed... Read more
