Book Twelve - 12 (The Dresden Files series) - The Dresden Files
Book Twelve - 12 (The Dresden Files series) - The Dresden Files

Review:Easily the best of an already great series so far. It's rare to find an author that can keep a series so engaging for so long, let alone successfully build upon and change all the established plot threads and continue from there. Read more

Book Three - 3 (The Dresden Files series) - The Dresden Files
Book Three - 3 (The Dresden Files series) - The Dresden Files

Review:I was assured that the series would pick up by the third book. While some slight improvements have been made (allies are no longer the main hindrance, Harry is facing some of his many character flaws) the story isn't much better. Still too much reliance on weak premises for conflict (how many times is he going to drop his staff and wand?) , deus ex machina, and flat characters. I really want to like these book but I just don't. The premise is fantastic then is wasted on poorly conceived foes ... Read more

Book Eight - 8 (The Dresden Files series) - The Dresden Files

Review:In the continuing saga of Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden, the reader seldom sees what is coming next. W elearn more about Harry's back story as well as watch him protect his apprentice from the White Council and herself. Read more

Book Seven - 7 (The Dresden Files series) - The Dresden Files
Book Seven - 7 (The Dresden Files series) - The Dresden Files

Review:Thank gawd for a surprise in this book! I like the Harry character. He's getting older and seasoned in his craft. Thus, it is time for an attitude adjustment. The 'sensitive' warrior personality coupled with constant self-doubt is getting old. Jeez, Harry is a White Council Warden now! He is required to act like a seasoned wizard able to provide guidance and mentoring to the newbies. The Blue Beetle should be fondly 'let-go' and be replaced by a Jeep or Harley reflecting elevated status and ... Read more

The First Alex Verus Novel from the New Master of Magical London
The First Alex Verus Novel from the New Master of Magical London

Review:... but a good detective series either has a relatively interesting but static main character presented with interesting challenges and secondary characters in each entry, or a set of similar but escalating challenges in sequential books which drive the lead character to evolve and grow in character. Or both.

While the first book was quite enjoyable, the later entries... don't really go anywhere. We're treated to new characters so indistinct that they can't even be described without ref... Read more

Stories from the Dresden Files (The Dresden Files series)

Review:It was nice to see the new short story that takes place right after Harry gets shot and goes missing. I was expecting more. As a stand alone story about Murphy, it worked and was OK. The old stories, re printed are all ok as well. I want more about his old partner. What ever happen to him? Am I glad I own it, yes. It is always fun and an enjoyable read. Read more

Book Ten (The Dresden Files series) - The Dresden Files

Review:Jim Butcher once again brings Harry Dresden through another wild ride. Small Favor reads very well and is fun. Not my personal favorite of the the Dresden files though, I prefer when Harry's dog (mouse) is portrayed more prominently. In all continue reading the Dresden Files, great series. Read more

World of Warcraft: Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War

Review:*Warning, review may contain spoilers (though I'll try to keep them as low key as possible)*

Once again Christie Golden delivers another fantastic entry in the Warcraft Lore. Whether you're Horde, Alliance, or both; Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War offers new insights for how the story is to progress upon the release of Mists of Pandaria. Such brilliant insights include showing how Garrosh Hellscream has chosen to walk a much darker path than Thrall had hoped he would when he left him the... Read more

Just In Case You Ever Wonder
Just In Case You Ever Wonder

Review:"Just In Case You Ever Wonder" by Max Lucado (illustrated by Toni Goffe) is such a sweet children's book! I can't wait to read it to my own children. It's a great way to introduce and remind children why they are special (God created them) and that they are loved immensely by God and their parents no matter what.

Lucado's simple language and measured rhythm makes for a great bedtime or anytime read for children. The illustrations are beautiful and engaging as well. Part of me wished it wa... Read more
