The Darkest Passion (Lords of the Underworld)
The Darkest Passion (Lords of the Underworld)

Review:This is one of my favorites so far. I liked aeron because he's like the crazy, psycho evil since the beginning of the book. so I was excited to read his story with Olivia. :-) I read this online and would love to buy the book because it's a keeper! I love everything until the ending I guess... as what few people said - the ending was kinda rush.. I was like... "whoa! hold on! what just happened?!" and had to re-read the last scene over again. =/ I was also sad about Baden... omg my poor baden...... Read more

The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld)
The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld)

Review:The Lords of the Underworld series is a fun, very sexy romp with lots of action. The first book (Darkest Kiss) was good, but seemed overly wordy. Darkest Pleasure and Darkest night were very good in my opinion, I loved the leads, these are my two favorite books. This book, Darkest whisper, was pretty good, 3.5/5. Although each book centers around one couple, you actually get a decent amount of intro to other characters upcoming stories (like Paris and Aeron). There's also several plot lines goi... Read more

Review:Well done Gena Showalter! Dying 2 read rest and for the rest of the angels of the dark series too. Only disappointment is not being able to buy completed bundle of lords of the underworld series. Silly 4 book bundle is a poor offering.. We want COMPLETE SETS! Read more

A Paranormal Romance Novel (Atlantis) - Heart of the Dragon
A Paranormal Romance Novel (Atlantis) - Heart of the Dragon

Review:I really looked forward to this series. So much so that I bought all three books. And while I did finish the first book and will read the next two, the first one left me a little...blah. I just didn't connect with the characters. I didn't understand what motivated them. Some things didn't make sense. I don't know. Maybe I was spoiled by the tormented warriors who were possesed by demons in her first series. I remember standing in the bookstore, reading the first page of the first book of... Read more

A Civil War Novel (Ironwood Plantation Family Saga Book 1)
A Civil War Novel (Ironwood Plantation Family Saga Book 1)

Review:I have read this book several times in the last few weeks, I enjoyed it that much. I am a high school English teacher, as well as an editor. I tend to read very critically, even when I read for pleasure. In reference to the previous comment about misspellings, the only misspelled words I saw were in the slave dialogue. The comma issue, which I noticed as well, is grammatically correct. The author inserted commas according to proper grammar. It is personal preference to add commas for pauses and ... Read more

The Way of Shadows (Night Angel Book 1)
The Way of Shadows (Night Angel Book 1)

Review:To be up front - I read Weeks' "Lightbringer" (trilogy) first, and loved it, and so I was very disappointed with this series - though to be honest, I only made it through half the first book. Light bringer wrote women very well. Way of Shadows? Not at all. It was, honestly, a bit disgusting.

Every woman in the book is first described in terms of physical appearance (either an old hag or sexy beauty). She is either a literal "whore" with lose morals (never mind the fact that the men in t... Read more

Beyond the Shadows (Night Angel Book 3)
Beyond the Shadows (Night Angel Book 3)

Review:Most of my critical thoughts were fleshed out while reading Beyond the Shadows, this third book of Brent Weeks' Night Angel trilogy, but overall I'm critiquing the trilogy as a whole since many of my notions were formed from both the first and second books as well.

Our hero, Kylar, is a wetboy ... a more expert type of assassin. Like other reviewers have commented, "wetboy" is just simply a dumb name ... wish Weeks had thought up something a little more rugged, more tough, or simply more ... Read more

The Core: Book Five of The Demon Cycle
The Core: Book Five of The Demon Cycle

Review:While this book is better than the last several books, it's miles away from living up to the series' original start and promise. Brett has again put in a bunch of unneeded material to clog up the chapters of his book. You can skip chapters from three characters' view points and miss absolutely nothing of the plot:
Abban
Ashia
Briar
Which is a shame. Briar's view point was actually a bit refreshing. But it doesn't wash out the bitter taste in my mouth of a lack of resolution. MOST of ... Read more
