Review:I may be a bit biased as Jean Ed was a high school classmate -- president and most likely to succeed. I agree with George Will that Jean Ed Smith is currently the very best historical novelest. I have military background and was attending Penn State when Dwight was President and his brother, Milton, was President of Penn State. The book is extremely well researched. Read more
Review:The concept still gets me. I love the innovative idea behind the books of Seth Grahame-Smith and the fast paced style. Maybe not the prose of Shakespeare, but his books are tremendously entertaining, this one being no exception. Read more

Review:Is she or is she not? That is the question surrounding Anna Anderson who insists she survived the massacre of her family in the basement. She claims to be Anastasia Romanov, the Russian Grand Duchess. She bears an uncanny resemblance to her and has many scars on her body that she says prove her identity. Back then dna testing was not available to prove or disprove her story.Fascinating yet horrifying this historical suspense is based on research the author has done. Many scenes and wording of se... Review:This is one of the best works of historical fiction I have ever read. I am a huge fan of novels that both explore an historical character, and provide a compelling story at the same time. I was wondering how a novel about Hamilton would fare when placed up against the musical, and I think that while it is hard to imagine anything with the sheer flair of Lin-Manuel's masterpiece, it is fair to say that I actually found the characters deeper, more interesting, and in the end more satisfying than I... Review:If you were a fan back in the 50's and 60's please give this one a pass. It is more a book about a crude, vulgar, tasteless, drunk than a story about baseball. The author began this book with a good look at Mickey struggling to get into baseball. A couple more chapters and I was really enjoying it. Unfortunately, her biography rapidly tailed off (in baseball terms) in about the 3rd inning and never came back.
Any dyed-in-the-wool baseball fan knows Mickey had problems. Some know that he was f... Read more
Review:The majority of this book was so compelling. I wanted to read and read and read. Then, the ending chapters seemed so thrown together. I actually just skimmed through the last hoping it would revert back to the great book it was for most of the chapters. Read more
Review:This series of books have to be the best I had read in years. I couldn't put it down. I got so involved with the characters. I am totally addicted to the Outlander series. I have just purchased books 5-8. Have just started them and I can't imagine they could be any better than these first ones were. Read this series. You will love it.
I am totally in love with Jamie and Clair as a couple and Jamie as a man. I can't say enough about how wonderful these books are. Read more
