Review:For lovers of the musical "Wicked", this book is a must-have! The look of the book from the padded, distressed appearance of the cover, the foxing on the pages, the photos, the history of the show... it all adds up to a wonderful read and a great addition to other theatre books. Read more
Review:Nice intermediate arrangements. Many of the songs keep changing keys which is good for my brain and makes it extra fun (but sometimes tricky). Some are hard (one has 5 sharps!) but the arrangements are so well done it's worth the work! Read more
Review:This is a wonderful introspective look at an unusual life. Mr. Alda writes wonderfully honest reflection of his life. It made me look at my own life in a kinder light. His gentle cogent conversational style is a delight to read. Take the time sit down and enjoy read. Read more
Review:Oscar Wilde must have been quite the character in his day. This play about mistaken identity is not only laugh out loud funny but cutting at the same time. He skewers the upper class with his observations about their behaviour. No wonder it has been done in countless theaters over the years and been made into at least one film that I can think of. Review:I enjoyed the thought of this book because I think Debbie Allen is an inspiration to Black ballerina's. Also I am a huge fan of Kadir Nelson's art. I was not so excited about the writing in this book. I felt as thought the paragraphs were lengthy and it was a bit challenging to follow the story line. I see a few comments on Amazon about the content of the book particularly the name calling, but I think it lends a good cultural element to the book. Growing up in an African-American household (and... Read more
Review:I knew upon getting Better Nate than Ever that the book was going to be cute, with the author well versed in the world his subject lives in and the cover art great, but I had no IDEA the level of preciseness that this book would achieve when talking not only about theatre kids, but kids in general AND their families and friends! Yes, the Broadway stuff is truthful and funny, but the family dynamics are what really hit home for me and that was not what I was expecting. Federle takes the grown-up ... Read more
Review:Wallace Wallace is an extremely good person and does what many people try to accomplish, he doesn't lie. The last sentence that you just read has no flaws. Nothing wrong, no misspelled words. He is a very good person and he doesn't tell lies. Everyone tries not to, but Wallace Wallace succeeds. But things aren't always right just because you do the right thing. Wallace did just that.
It all started when Mr. Fogelman gave the assignment to write a book review on Old Shep My Pal. Mr... Read more
Review:A 2013 Dorling Kindersley/Smithsonian release, EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SNAKE AND OTHER SCALY REPTILES is geared to readers ages 7-11. Having said that, older readers would enjoy this once-over, well-illustrated guide to snakes and assorted creepy crawlies as well.
The book's 80 pages are fairly evenly divided between snakes and reptiles with units on prehistoric monster snakes, adders, rattlesnakes, snake charmers, snake skin/fangs/venom/hibernation habits/etc., spitting cobras,... Read more
Review:Nice picture stills from the movie and behind the camera on set. Interesting to read about the work done to bring the book to the final product on screen. Not sure if this is available in hardcover(?), as that would make this better for a movie fan memorabilia collection as regards to durability. Overall, a nice book for someone really into the the film making process. Read more
Review:For those of you who, like myself, absolutely loved this beautiful film and were deeply affected by it's mysterious feeling of venturing into "the great unknown", this book is a MUST BUY.
I love the idea of space travel and finding out what else is "out there", but unfortunately I am not the next Stephen Hawking, so I need my hand held through learning about "out there".
Kip Thorne does an amazing job on laying the groundwork on the basics in the opening chapters. He then applies t... Read more
