Christian Books & Bibles
Review:Basically a repeat of everything I've read on the blog, at least in message. I don't read his blog often either. Less arrogant than other minimalists although he has a religious bent that may be bother some. Read his blog first, or any blogger/author to see if their style appeals to you, or check your library. I found I remove this book from my house with no trouble at all. Read more
Review:Upon receiving my book i was hesitant about reading it. Though I am a Christian I have never practiced fasting, and inn this book Stoval really hits the subject hard. He explains so much that I now understand the general concept, however I must admit I did not fast nor do I long do to it...........by myself. I feel that it would have a greater impact if it were a group effort with support and accountability.
Yet it is not all about fasting, it is totally about awakening, awakening your sp... Read more
Review:Good read. The author is well informed and very articulate. Centering prayer is a form of Christian meditation that has been around for centuries. I enjoyed and learned from this book. I highly recommend it to others. Read more
Review:For the women looking for purpose. And for the women who want to be used by God more than to belong to this world. Jess Connolly speaks LIFE and TRUTH and shows up willing to go first for us into hard things, to make a way for us to join in the life change too. This book is for every one I know. But especially for those ready to run towards something so much greater than they believed they could. In Jesus name AMEN!! Read more
Review:Whenever I read about Martin Luther's role in the Reformation, I end up feeling disappointed. He began so well and ended so badly. By allying the church with the state he quenched the spirit of popular Christianity in Europe, and I suspect that the Anabaptists whom he persecuted as heretics were doctrinally and practically closer to true Christianity than he was. This was a very sympathetic biography, but I regard Luther as neither a hero or a saint, and my verdict is that as a Reformer he on... Read more
Review:I love Carolyn Brown's style of writing. I've only read two of her books and thoroughly enjoyed both of them. I found myself smiling alot and caught up with the characters. I am looking forward to a third book by her. Read more
Review:One thing that is sure about this is that it was written with heart and soul. Apart from the fact that the author really absorbs himself into his writing, it is clear that he knows something about becoming loving and open minded. I must warn you, for those that prefer to stay away from religion, there is some referencing of the Bible and Christianity. I however, was totally fine with that. In any case, the book was written warmth will benefit the many of you. It does have great points. Read more
Review:Outstanding book by Dr. Fee and Dr. Stuart. The fact that it is updated makes it even more helpful in reading and understanding all the various genres of the Bible as well as many other very crucial insights that the book provides Read more
Review:They say that "Go Tell It on the Mountain" is the book that James Baldwin had to right before he could right anything else. Like Job, Baldwin bears witness to the struggles of everyday African Americans in the era of Jim Crow.
In this particular novel, he looks at the effects from a number of different viewpoints, whether as a man struggling to find his identity in New York City, or a woman who was raped by a group of white men in the South.
The book meanders between reality and re... Read more
Review:As a teacher of two-year-olds, I could not be happier with this book. The Big Book style keeps the children entralled while I "read" the book. Meaning that even though their attention spans can't handle hearing the story word-for-word, they listen as I edit the story in my own way. And by the time the four-year-olds see it, they are listening to every word of this precious story. And at the price it is offered here, even I could afford to add it to my collection. Read more
