Review:Having read pretty much everything else Carl Sagan wrote, I was excited to receive a copy of *Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors,* expecting the usual thoroughly enjoyable read. And it was, for the first half. The account of the formation of Earth and the emergence and mechanics of life was fascinating, clearly and articulately written, and illuminating.
It was when the discussion switched over to the apes that things went downhill for me. The first intimation that something bad was happening... Read more
Review:I was expecting a book that uplifted me and taught me to use better the loves I have. What I got was a philosophical/historical look at worship in the church over the ages with a few chapters in the beginning discussing how we tend to follow the society while living with buried loves on the inside of us that don't get expressed. Very disappointing Read more
Review:I found the book to be well written and organized. It is very well read by John Gauger. The author writes pretty much the way he speaks so it makes for an easy book to listen to. There is so much information I have found it necessary to listen to some chapters twice just to retain some of it. It is a very good book for the investment if you are serious about maintaining good health. Read more
Review:Every Sunday I looked forward to going to church with my mother. I'd wear nifty clothes and matched them up with my favorite accessories: shoes and handbags. I'd look and feel good, ready to devote an hour and a half to God. Then -- bam! -- something happened, something very small and meaningless, almost imperceptive, that put me in a foul mood. I became cranky to the point that I was inexplicably angry, all kinds of dark thoughts entering my head. Which begged the question: why. Why was I... Read more

Review:WARNING - Do not buy Sovereign Grace Publishers Henry Cole translation of Bondage of the Will.
After slogging through 95 pages of its barely understandable jargon, I asked my dad, Pastor Gerry Mohr (LCMS) if Luther's reputation for intellect was, perhaps, a bit unearned. He replied, "Cole whipped out his translation effort in three months or less. Luther's original is a direct reply to a work by Erasmus directly aimed against what Luther was teaching. Cole does not take the time to und... Read more
Review:I found it to be too long, drawn out. I thought it would be more about The Shacks insite and not dry history. Disappointed as I was I continued to read and did learn from his book. It just was not what I expected when I bought the book, and the many pages in the end I felt was not necessary. His title is misleading. It should be "The Shack Revisited" by reading the pages over and over again until you can connect it with the shack. Then read all the pages of the humans I give credit to for my... Read more
Review:One of the more important books I have read in a long time.
Makes a clear, simple but in-depth statement for each chapter and then proceeds to elaborate with great examples what the specific lie is and how it affected the author and obviously us as well.
Reading it a second time, not because it is hard to follow, but because of the depth of the impact of what is covered. Read more
Read more
