Review:Very detailed and mesmerizing read. I was waiting for someone to write a book
about those poor young prostitutes that were murdered and left to rot in the
dunes off Jones Beach on Long Island. We needed to know about them and their
lives and their deaths. Reads like a detective novel. Great book. Read more
Review:My wonderful caring school principal recommended this book to the staff as we have a population that is rather heavily burdened with poverty and other stresses. The book details the lives of several children, their histories and what Dr. Perry did to treat each child. What is incredible is the effect of poverty, neglect and abuse on the brain development. You need to read this if you work with children or parent them.... Read more
Review:The subject matter is hard to read about in large doses but the
information is very very helpful and clear. It helped me see the issue
from the victims point of view.
Much of the info is distressing...our society is shown as self protective
and without compassion.
Not for idle reading but very helpful if one is suddenly put in a place
to help and understand the effects and recovery process. Read more
Review:LOVE that there is a resource like this for parents and kids. I didn't think the content was in any way inappropriate. I read it to my 5 year old boy and it didn't affect him in a negative way at all. Read more
Review:The title of this invaluable book speaks for itself and it most certainly provides important insights and powerful lessons about protecting oneself and one's children from getting into the reach of the deadly predators in our world. Not only it gives great insights, but it would strongly help one to not to fall into the "trap."
I've enjoyed the author's writing style and she did a wonderful job on describing how the predators operate, which helps us to prepare any eventually and avoid our... Read more

Review:Unfortuneately most of us have at least one toxic parent. This book could be standard reading for everyone. It shows the different types of toxic parents and counters their toxicity with the truth. You don't have to live your life striving for their approval. Toxic parent relationships are not healthy and should not be treated the same as healthy parent-child relationships. This book is very informative and very practical. Read more
Review:This book helped me a lot. I had been struggling to understand why my mother had done to me, and how I could deal with my feeling against my mother. This book has all answers that I wanted for a long time. Read more
Review:"Sickened" is an autobiography about the victim of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy (MBP). MBP is a mental disorder in which a person (usually a mother) inflicts injury on another in order to gain attention and praise. In this case, the author's mother was the predator. It's hard to believe that anyone's childhood could be this awful. Ms. Gregory's childhood was not full of love, but of horrible abuse - such as being starved, given medicine to make her sick, subjected to rigorous and invasive me... Read more
Review:Well written. I'm getting my degree in social work, I learned about Leslie Morgan Steiner from a video I had to watch for my family development and decided I wanted to read this book. It was disturbing to read about the abuse that happened to her. Although,I thought this was a really good book. Read more
