The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation
The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation

Review:For those who love Disney, and their animation, this book gives a history of the early days of animation that shaped this empire. The artwork is amazing and I love to look at it over and over. We had a copy of this while our children were growing up that literally fell apart from use. Now we have a new copy to share with our grandchildren. Love it! Read more

The Chronicles of Prydain (The Five Books of Prydain

Review:My fiance and I recently acquired 3 of these geckos from Phillipe himself and this book has been a great counterpart to our caretaking them. It has a TON of pictures and is super informative. We love reading about the actual trips to NC to study them. Would love to follow in these 3's footsteps. Read more

The Artist's Complete Guide to Drawing the Head
The Artist's Complete Guide to Drawing the Head

Review:A wonderful book for improving drawing technique! This is especially helpful for pros who have used line, (as I used to) This book has helped me tremendously in enhancing my style. Though I don't exclusively use the red pastel pencil Mr. Maughin uses, I modify his techniques to use in pencil, but I will use his technique faithfully when I get a chance to explore how to do it in his original style. If you are patient and commit some time, it's well worth it to learn his methods. Read more

Review:I bought 3 of Bridgmans books: Life Drawing, Constructive Anatomy and Heads, Features and Faces after reading the reviews. Creative Illustration
Creative Illustration

Review:"Creative Illustration" is an amazing book. It is extremely useful, advice given in the book is exceptional. Most things discussed and showcased in this book I have never seen in any other art books (contemporary or vintage). Unique. Unbelievably good.
This book made me a better artist, and I feel like now I understand everything with so much more depth.
Loomis also gives a little insight in master Pyle's methods, compositions and advice for success in the industry that is still valid toda... Read more

Drawing the Head and Hands
Drawing the Head and Hands

Review:Should be titled “How to Draw Perfect-Looking White People”. Some nice sketches from the 1940s but it’s ridiculously focused on clean, pretty white people. One page of vaguely Latino looking men called “Characterization” Oh and one page of “Grandmothers” that look 75 yrs old+ otherwise all the women are under 30. Yikes. It’s from 1943 but still- ? Many other texts are much much better. Will probably return. Read more
