How the Women of Newsweek Sued their Bosses and Changed the Workplace
How the Women of Newsweek Sued their Bosses and Changed the Workplace

Review:When the Newsweek editors decided to write a cover story about feminism in March 1970, it was a hot topic, just the sort of current events coverage that the news magazine was known for. The day the issue hit the stands, a group of women who worked at Newsweek filed a civil rights suit against the magazine. Newsweek was being sued for gender discrimination.

Lynn Povich, one of the few women writers at Newsweek at the time, was one of forty-six women filing the suit, and she has gathered th... Read more

Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised (Robert's Rules of Order (Paperback))

Review:This is the standard for formal meetings. Complete, accurate, and very formal.

I found that although this reference book covers everything in detail, I found Robert's Rules for Dummies to be quick and easily understandable and a great companion book to this detailed reference. (_: Read more

The Smartest Guys in the Room
The Smartest Guys in the Room

Review:Many of my writing assignments pertain to accounting and compliance issues. Reading this book about what all went wrong at Enron helps me understand why various compliance acts and various accounting rules changes were enacted since 2001. Read more

Stuxnet and the Launch of the World's First Digital Weapon
Stuxnet and the Launch of the World's First Digital Weapon

Review:Gripping, well written, well paced, and is clearly written by someone who knows what they're talking about. It has a unique ability to describe details an analyst will appreciate, but can be understood by someone interested in the storyline because of the author's ability to explain technical details well. It's worth your money. Do it. Read more

Absalom, Absalom! 1st (first) edition Text Only
Absalom, Absalom! 1st (first) edition Text Only

Review:I know William Faulkner is one of our most celebrated writers, so disliking this book goes against the worshipful crowd. However, I found Absalom, Absalom to be so dense, byzantine and chock full of non-stop ENDLESS run-on sentences (otherwise called stream-of-consciousness) to be nearly impenetrable. If I wanted this much work, I'd sign up for a road crew.

I have a fairly fluent acquaintance with the English language, but I had to read a synopsis to understand the story. I know it ma... Read more

30 Years of Lessons Learned from Warren Buffett & Charlie Munger at the Annual Shareholders Meeting

Review:As someone who has attended a handful of Berkshire meetings and a regular reader of all things Berkshire I found this book a wonderful collection and synthesis of the main idea/s of each meeting since the early 90’s. The authors have focused on a topic rather than regurgitating endless notes so the book forms a very neat summary of each meeting without the need to search through all the repetitive questions that became a feature of the meetings over the past decade. I have recommended this book ... Read more

The Law
The Law

Review:I lack necessary intellectual capacity and courage to judge or review such an amazing narrative and book, however, this book taught me more and more and proofed that some of the critical , social, political and philosophical questions were answered long time ago. This book adds to the answers to my own personal questions such as why Europ for example was able to reform while other nations and ethnicities were unable to do so and describe the kind of debate that was going on some 150 years ago th...
