Science Fiction & Fantasy
Review:Holy crap, batman. This book, y'all. It's like this crazy hodgepodge of things all smushed together in a neat little ball that totally came at me and knocked me down. It's fantasy, but it's more. It's a romance, but it's more. It's just a lot of good things. Except one thing. The love triangle, but more on that later. Let's return to the gushing.
You know whenever a main character just has it? (As if I know what it is. I clearly do not have it.) That's Lia. As I read The Kiss of Decepti... Read more
Review:I liked this book so much that I am now reading the 4th in the series! The characters are interesting, and the storyline is different and unpredictable, holding my interest to see what's going to happen. Read more
Review:I can summarize the whole book for you right here:
It's all my fault I'm sorry I'm so sorry I'm so confused confused confused I need to take some time to think about my feelings 1 2 3 seconds pass I'm still confused I'm so sorry It's all my fault. The End.
I've realized something - it's pretty much impossible to enjoy a book when you hate the narrator. I hated Juliette. In this book she is weak, pathetic and above all, SELFISH. No cool plot twist (there wasn't one anyway) or awesom... Read more
Review:Although I am sad to see this story end and I don't completely dig the ending. War Storm is like the rest of the books in the Red Queen series. Once you start the story immediately grabs you in and immerses you in the story like no time has passed. For the most part most of the important characters and how and where the end up is clear and again although I wasn't completely satisfied with the ending. Overall I'm happy with how this story as a whole was told. Read more
Review:I am absolutely in love with the book and wish that I didn't have to wait another year to find out what happens. Unlike Marissa Meyer's Lunar Chronicles series, I feel that Renegades is not a series that is as universal a read. The Lunar Chronicles effortlessly blends science fiction with a fairytale retelling and I feel can draw people in even if they don't normally read either of those two. Renegades on the other hand is definitely a superhero story, with fantastic characters and an intriguing... Read more
Review:Awesome story and concept. Reader is immediately drawn into Ruby's dilemma and fear of being torn away from her parents and put in a prison for dangerous kids. Couldn't wait for next installment to find out what happens to these kids. My teenage daughter and I both enjoyed this book. Read more
Review:I knew from the first sentence that this book was going to make me feel. What I didn't know, but I knew it would be deep. I was right. This is a book for those who demand excellent writing and are not afraid to face the ups and downs of life. Read more
Review:I found this book both entertaining and thought-provoking and would highly recommend it to anyone craving a page turner that doubles as an excellent conversation starter (...have you read....?)
At some points overly simplistic and uneven, “The Power” still provides readers with an interesting take on transformative power. Read more
Review:I've been a longtime fan of Machado's. It's really gratifying to start to see universal praise for her work.
This is a hell of a collection. 'Especially Heinous' is the centerpiece, in my eyes. Read more
Review:This story is so traumatizingly sad. I watched the movie and I decided to read the book but it breaks my heart. The sadness of the dogs loyalty to humans despite all that's happened is just heart wrenching.
There are characters who speak in heavily accented English but while it slows you down in some parts but its far from unreadable- later editions address this and there's a glossary where you can look it up.
Sad sad story about animals and people and how we interact with each oth... Read more
