Star Nomad: Fallen Empire, Book 1
Star Nomad: Fallen Empire, Book 1

Review:Lindsay does such a great job of developing her characters and making you fall in love with them. I loved the humor and action all throughout the book. I couldn't put it down and can't wait for the rest of the series. Read more

Outies (Mote Series Book 3)
Outies (Mote Series Book 3)

Review:A good first book, returning to the land of the Moties and the Mote in God's Eye. Enjoyed the story, particularly the Arab influence and styles of Asach.

SPOILER ALERT for those who have not read the Mote in God's Eye and The Gripping Hand.

This book entices, yet it takes some time to understand the major revelation. The premise of the first two books was the hyper-kinetic biology of the Moties. It drove and created and defined the species. Yet the Moties on this planet apparen... Read more

Ringworld's Children
Ringworld's Children

Review:Ringworld's Children (2004) is the fourth novel in the Ringworld series, following The Ringworld Throne. In Ringworld, Louis Wu had encountered a very large patch of sunflowers, but except for a minor incident that left Speaker to Animals hairless and charred, his party managed to hide from their reflected sunbeams during the da... The Gripping Hand
The Gripping Hand

Review:I'm a fan of Larry Niven Jerry Pournelle collaborations. The Gripping Hand is a well thought out depiction of how an interaction with an alien species might play out. I also appreciate how alien the moties really are. Read more

Ringworld: A Novel
Ringworld: A Novel

Review:I guess I'm just not a fan of mystical/science fiction. This work - - and its related series - - came highly recommended to my by a friend. I only made it through the first 8 or 9 pages before hitting the "delete" button. Read more

The Mote in God's Eye (Mote Series Book 1)
The Mote in God's Eye (Mote Series Book 1)

Review:No good, compelling characters. All about events, like an historical docudrama. Trying too hard to be realistic. Didn't really get anywhere until the negotiations with Jock & Charlie were under way. Read more

EMP Post Apocalyptic Fiction - The Pulse Super Boxset
EMP Post Apocalyptic Fiction - The Pulse Super Boxset

Review:I got this book FREE and still only could get through one of the ten volumes. I was hoping the story would develop into something entertaining. However, I couldn't get past the male bashing. I tried to think of ONE positive attribute of ANY male character in the first book. I couldn’t come up with a single one, apparently neither could this SJW man-hating feminist author. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME unless you enjoy poorly researched apocalyptic stories where every female is a positive role mode... Read more

American War: A novel (Random House Large Print)
American War: A novel (Random House Large Print)

Review:This book has me more depressed than the political developments of the last year. The book is about us, our country, our tribes, and our bleak prospects for the future. The Us and Them thinking that has propelled our foreign relations ever since 9/11 turns out to have similar consequences when war breaks out between the Red South and the Blue North. With half of the South disappearing in to the Mississippi River and Gulf of Mexico, poverty is endemic and huge groups of poor refugees make their w... Read more

The Long War (Long Earth)
The Long War (Long Earth)

Review:If you've read The Long Earth, you might expect this book to carry on the plot thread about the major existential threat that is introduced near the end of that book. You will discover quickly in The Long War that that idea has been all but forgotten.

The Long War expands the cast of The Long Earth, bringing back nearly all the supporting characters and introducing a few new ones. Like its predecessor, The Long War doesn't really do anything with most of them. There are some subplots that... Read more

Review:Asimov is turning over in his grave! Imagine robots maiming and killing people. So much for the three laws. But these characters are absolutely compelling. Especially the robots (Paladin and Med). I would have given this five stars except for the impossible rendering of Canada. Too many contradictions of space and time. Otherwise I enjoyed it immensely, and look forward to more from this insightful and exciting new voice! Read more
