Review:Well-written and researched. Truly inspirational story about the everyday heroes found on the small island of Crete. Like Chris' other book Born To Run, the story-telling is spellbinding and facts behind natural fitness are revealing. Another tour de force! Read more
Review:Maas provided a riveting read and a naval history lesson. Swede Momsen was truly a hero. The book is a tribute to his character and dedication to his work. The difficulty of raising Squalus while solving technical problems and performing scientific research critical to your mission at the same is so daunting that most men would have thought it impossible at the outset. Even today the task would be a near impossibility. I agree with other reviewers that illustrations and/or diagrams of t... Read more
Review:I won this book as a goodreads giveaway. I really love the cover of the book and it's very fitting to the story. The dedication is so sweet, and will probably stand out in my mind forever. Something I did while reading was googled images of the locations Kyle and Ash visited. Great writing to describe each... Read more

Review:Gary Kamiya is an excellent writer, so the reading is easy and the subject matter compelling, i already love SF so i enjoyed his take on many places i already know, and then many that i did not.
Most people don't need help loving SF but this will deepen your appreciation. If you don't know the City at all or not well, this is a great guide. He walked pretty much the full 49 square miles so he knows it intimately.
Very enjoyable read Read more
Review:Filled with anecdotal evidence, this book is nothing more than a recount of people who decided to pursue their "calling" and found meaning through it. It is a poor attempt at teaching you that humans are programmed to work towards goals and that we find deep enjoyment in doing so. Anyone is better off reading Flow. Read more
Review:Although the four levels of infinities can nicely fit in our local universe ... even per person/instant, and thus make our eigenvector of constants just one of infinitelt many ... it somehow forgets to ponder that, of these infinities within infinities, there are likely to be constructs which utilize their universe in total, as a quantum-like computational system. Hard to imagine that neither Tegmark nor Hawking thought this through. Read more
