Review:I purchased this book as part of my reading to do exactly what Eustace Conway has done...to live off the land, get off the grid, and use the nature world and the mystery that exists there as a tool for the transformation of myself and others. The disconnect that exists for all of us in this modern world from the source, of our food supply, air, water, spirit, is epidemic. The ramifications are far reaching and profound, as many have demonstrated and described. What The Last American Man explores... Read more
Review:I would actually give it 3 1/2 stars. This transitional time for some women and men can leave you depleted. Sometimes the changes just appear as the end of the road. Sometimes it takes something a .little more drastic to find a new path forward. Read more
Review:Not my usual reading but I really enjoyed the book. Fascinating true story, well written by Melinda Blanchard. Eye-opening with regards to cultural differences and bureaucratic red tape. Fast, easy read. Definitely recommend. Read more
Review:When I started reading this book it was at the end of a long hard day after work, one of those days where I am blessed to have a job, but when I also wonder if what I'm doing is worth some of the not so blessed drama I go through. I work at a non-profit agency where its my job to assist people on public assistance find gainful employment, so in my position I hear all kinds of tales of woe and there are times (more than not) lately when I find myself becoming desensitized to the plights of my fel... Review:Very good product. Bought this for my daughter at Christmas. She was 10 years old at the time and now is 11. Months later, she still enjoys doing her nails, using the designs in this book. Not sure about the quality of the polish, but that's not the point. Buy this for the instructions and ideas. Read more
Review:This book is amazing, Chosen By a Horse was given to me as a gift to me by my barn owner as a going away present for me to read of the plane for my first deployment and I must say that Susan Richards totally pulled me in. I found myself laughing at some of the things that happened with her and Georgia because that is my Mare and then I found myself on a plane full of Marines crying like a baby. I have since oreder her othe two book; Chosen Forever and Saddled. Both were equally amazing and she l... Read more
Review:Well-written and intense but so intimate - as if you’ve somehow always known Ariel. It’s a love letter to life that - like many great love stories - dances round and ultimately ends in the land of “what could have been.” I hung on nearly every word, highlighted passage after beautiful passage and wanted to weep with the raw realness of it all. Bravo for one of the most authentic memoirs I’ve read in a long time. Read more
Review:Worth reading. Good look into dynamics of addiction and impact on those around the user. Verghese is an engaging author and captures the attention of the reader quickly. While not light, the issues he tackles are real. Read more
Review:With 127 people and unusual family connections, I found myself using the x Ray feature on my Kindle more than any other time. Page after page, chapter after chapter was basically a redo of the ones before. Same problems shared by all the characters. Not a good read. The end was a long time coming. Read more
Review:This is a book about whom every one of significance (except aboard the helicopter) has died. These dead people are the ones through whose eyes we are to see this disaster unfold. In other words, there is a whole lot of "Then they must have thought this", or "Of course we can assume they were saying this...." It is a book of so much fiction regarding everything of interest, and yet it is presented as a factual account of the disaster.
The only interesting aspect to this book is the one area... Read more
