Into the Storm (Destroyermen)
Into the Storm (Destroyermen)

Review:I learned about his series from a friend of the author and thought I'd give it a try. Almost from the first page, I was hooked. Anderson's characters are as fully realized as any I've ever encountered, in short order you get to know these men and women, and care about them.
I recommend this book to any military sci-fi fans, as well as fans of alternative history. Read more

Devil's Due (Destroyermen)
Devil's Due (Destroyermen)

Review:Taylor Anderson's 12th and best read so far, is a great multi-disciplinary and multi- faceted scholarly informative primer that seamlessly and creatively interweaves and merges together both World War Two History with Science and Science Fiction. Descrying both the formation and development of the "Spear" and of the "Tip of the Spear" as only few individual writers and storytellers can and successfully do. Devil's Due correctly answers for now all of a Civilization's "Yesterday/Today", "This f... Read more

Deadly Shores (Destroyermen)

Review:A really amazing addition to the series, the action and drama kept building until an almost climactic end. The story was so intense that I thought for sure this had to be a series finally, but thankfully, just when it seemed about to end, there was more excitement waiting. I just can't wait for the next book in the series. Read more

Maelstrom (Destroyermen)
Maelstrom (Destroyermen)

Review:It's an interesting idea - two American destroyers and a Japanese warship caught in a 'squall' wind up on an Earth where humans *aren't* the dominant species. Heck, I'm not sure humans even developed on this version of our planet. Seems evolution decided two species were better than one - a particularly nasty reptilian one called "Grik" and a fairly peaceful mammalian one called "Lemurians". The first book (Into the Storm) setup the situation, Crusade developed it a bit further with some real... Read more

David Petraeus and the Plot to Change the American Way of War
David Petraeus and the Plot to Change the American Way of War

Review:The author David Kaplan uses "Insurgent" as a metaphor to show how those recognizing the need for different strategies to fight insurgencies (as compared to full scale wars) were themselves insurgents within the US military. While there are many others, Kaplan credits David Petraeus as the key exponent of the new thinking.

Kaplan places the beginnings of COIN (counter-insurgency strategies) at post- World War II West Point where a curriculum which added some liberal arts courses (sociolo... Read more

Star Wars: Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel

Review:Loved this novel! James Luceno does a phenomenal job of crafting personal, powerful, yet wide-sweeping stories and its just fantastic! I love how they incorporated a lot of other fun easter eggs from other new cannon stuff, and set up deep relationships for characters that are in the movie! I'd highly recommend this novel to any Star Wars fan! Read more
