Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans - The Battle That Shaped America's Destiny
Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans - The Battle That Shaped America's Destiny

Review:This book made me realize that one man that loved his freedom could turn the tide for saving not only New Orleans, but the whole country,What a great injustice to his legacy it would be to take his statue down, Every person for that should read this book first and the nuns need to pray it will not be allowed, praise be to God that He put the right man in place for such a time as this. Volume 5 (History of the United States Naval Operations in World War II)
Volume 5 (History of the United States Naval Operations in World War II)

Review:Well written. Engrossing. Incredibly detailed history down to who sunk what uboat. He faults the Navy for our total lack of preparedness for the submarine war on our shipping. He faults Navy & Army for personal power struggles that prevented coordination of our war effort. A sobering history. Read more

HALO: Hunters in the Dark
HALO: Hunters in the Dark

Review:So I've read nearly every Halo novel currently available, with the exception of the Karen Travis novels (I can't stand her as a writer and have heard the worst about her Kilo-5 trilogy) and this book ranks among the lowest unfortunately. To give you an idea of how I rank the novels I'll say I love pretty much all the Nylund novels, I love Halo Crytum, could barely get through Primordium, liked Silentium, and the rest are all pretty solid. Nothing exceptional, but they are light, fun reads. Halo ... Read more

The Struggle for Empire in Central Asia (Kodansha Globe)

Review:Good book which lead me to some other good reading. If you want to read the story because you think it sounds good and have no personal interest in the region, I imagine it would be hard to get through. Can be tedious at times. Read more

Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: Ascension
Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: Ascension

Review:1. Wait for the paperback or you might be wishing you had spent your money somewhere else. It is a good little read, but eternally boring at times. It is as though the author finished the book and realized it was too short. Then he went back, added tons of scenery, mundane descriptions of useless unimportant details and tried to add enough filler to make it a book. I found myself simply glancing over pages and pages of description just to get back to the story.

2. If you have not re... Read more

Book Three of the Legends of Dune Trilogy - The Battle of Corrin
Book Three of the Legends of Dune Trilogy - The Battle of Corrin

Review:These books written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson are good books. Unfortunately, they just don't resonate on the deeper level like the Frank Herbert books. But, that being said I enjoy them and I like to see how all the pieces fit together and try and believe that on the big points it is based on Frank's notes. It is as good as any other sci-fi out there, so to be afraid to buy it and read, especially if you love the Dune universe like I do. Read more

Seven Pillars Of Wisdom. A Triumph. De Luxe Edition
Seven Pillars Of Wisdom. A Triumph. De Luxe Edition

Review:Seven Pillars of Wisdom is fascinating from cover to cover. The book is on some levels Lawrence's study of himself as much as a history of the battles in which he was involved. He writes, "Any protestation of the truth from me was called modesty, self-depreciation. It always irritated me, this silly confusion of shyness, which was conduct, with modesty, which was a point of view... I was not modest, but ashamed of my awkwardness, of my physical envelope, of my solitary unlikeness which made me n... Read more

The Algebraist
The Algebraist

Review:The Algebraist, by Iain M. Banks, is a sweeping science fiction odyssey following the adventures of Fassin Taak. In the book's main plot, Taak is charged with obtaining information that could save his home system from an attack by a vast enemy armada. Unfortunately, Taak isn't sure if the required information exists and even if it does, he will have to get it from the Dwellers, an almost infinitely old race of aliens who reside in gas giants and consider "quick" races, such as humans, as little ... On Distant Shores (Earth Exiles Book 1)
On Distant Shores (Earth Exiles Book 1)

Review:A really unique kind of science fiction novel....not your typical storyline at all. The character development is solid and the transition to some really well thought out action sequences is right on.

Can't wait to dig into books 2 & 3 next!

Great Job Mark! Keep on Trucking.... Read more
