The Untold Story of Operation Anaconda - Not a Good Day to Die
The Untold Story of Operation Anaconda - Not a Good Day to Die

Review:The takeaway for me was how the Military-Industrial Complex conducted the war in Afghanistan exactly the opposite of what was taught to us at US Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia. We were always taught that the feet-of-clay of the Soviet style of military command and control was the refusal to delegate authority down to the lowest levels of command; down to where the tactical situation was clearest to the officers, non-coms and troops on the ground in the fray of battle. For multi-star... Read more

Firestorm (Destroyermen)
Firestorm (Destroyermen)

Review:Out of all the Destroyermen Books so far (including Iron Gray Sea), Firestorm is my favorite. The battles are incredibly fierce, there are surprises for the allies, including "grik birds" and zeppelins, and there is an evil to rival even the Grik in the Dominion. Anderson even finds the right person to deal with the Dominion problem, in only a way that this particular character could. This book, out of all the series, is a good old fashioned war story at its best. We finally see North Americ... Read more

The End of All Things (Old Man's War Book 6)
The End of All Things (Old Man's War Book 6)

Review:Like The Human Division, The End of All Things is made up of short stories from different viewpoints (mostly the same main characters from Human Division) that all fit together. It does a great job of wrapping major plot points brought up in the previous books and is a great end to the series. (Although I wouldn't be opposed to more stories in the same universe) Read more

Forever War: Dispatches from the War on Terror
Forever War: Dispatches from the War on Terror

Review:Gooder. A unique on the ground "I was there" perspective. Never heard anything like this in any news reports either left or right. If you have an interest in how and why things happened in Iraq, this book is invaluable. In fact It is a "goodest". Read more

Forever Peace
Forever Peace

Review:If you have read and enjoyed this novel, then please skip over this review. If you haven't yet read it, then press on. My apologies in advance to the author and his fans.

The novel isn't really a science fiction novel. It is a story masking an exposition of the author's perceptions of race, war, sex, religion, and culture. Based on 1960s thinking in these areas, but set in the middle of the 21st century, the attitudes of the characters were not believable. Worse yet, the trite anti-w... Read more

The Enduring Bond between a Marine and a Navy SEAL that Transcended Their Ultimate Sacrifice
The Enduring Bond between a Marine and a Navy SEAL that Transcended Their Ultimate Sacrifice

Review:Could not put it down. Went into much more detail on Lt. Manion which makes sense, since his father wrote most it. Nonetheless, an unbelievable story of what it means to be a great american, a great friend and great teammate. While most of us will never be called upon to do what these two heroes did, we can all strive to be as good a friend as they were to each other. Read more

A Woman Survivor's True Story of Auschwitz - Five Chimneys
A Woman Survivor's True Story of Auschwitz - Five Chimneys

Review:Having read over 42 books on the holocaust, unquestionably, "Auschwitz" is thus far "the" most vivid description of the hell the Nazis inflicted on innocent people, young, old, children, informed, and various ethnic representatives. The psychology of the unbelievable sadism, brutality and terror inflicted by the Nazis to other human beings is incomprehensible to me. This book is a factual telling by a very heroic survivor. I am still in disbelieve that anyone could survive what she did - and the... Read more

A History of the Jews of Europe During the Second World War
A History of the Jews of Europe During the Second World War

Review:Detailed, specific and full of examples. Almost too horrific to read all the way through, but a "must-read" to appreciate just how cruel man can be to his fellow man, and be sure we do not let it happen again. Moving. Read more

1421: The Year China Discovered America
1421: The Year China Discovered America

Review:A hefty book, but definitely a good read. There is a DVD by the same title that goes through the author's search for his information for the book. Very interesting as well, but more a "behind the scenes" look at the making of the book. Read more
