The Turn: The Hollows Begins with Death
The Turn: The Hollows Begins with Death

Review:The blatant sexism and calling the main character a whore because she was doing her job kinda pissed me off. I know this was set in the 60's but it was just really offensive in a way that her writing has never been. It was hard to read. Read more

Scourged (The Iron Druid Chronicles)
Scourged (The Iron Druid Chronicles)

Review:Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Series is absolutely my favorite next to The Dresden Files. I love the characters, the stories, the settings, and the humor. I highly recommend this series to anyone who hasn’t picked it up yet. Start with Hounded and enjoy yourself a wonderful ride!!! Read more

Alaska: A Novel
Alaska: A Novel

Review:Michener is a great historical novelist. "Texas" is full of American history, interspersed with fictional characters to make it interesting. Alaska is still my favorite but I haven't read Hawaii yet! I highly recommend any of Michener's books. Read more

Scythe (Arc of a Scythe)
Scythe (Arc of a Scythe)

Review:Scythe is my first Neal Shusterman book AND one of the best books I’ve read this year. Society lives in a utopia. We’ve defeated death, poverty, hunger, you name it. Do people turn to a Star Trek-type society and explore space and do good things? Nope, they “turn the corner” when they get tired of looking old, having surgery to bring them back to a younger face and body. They stop doing, stop trying to achieve; it’s a stagnant society that doesn’t die. That’s where the Scythes come in.

Becoming the Dragon (The Dragon Inside Book 1)
Becoming the Dragon (The Dragon Inside Book 1)

Review:The book reads like some weird info dump. It’s very dry and boring. Could be a result of the translation but I doubt it. And it’s crazy short. Definitely not worth $6. Deeply regret this purchase. Read more

The Chronicles of Dragon Collection (Series #1 Books 1-10)
The Chronicles of Dragon Collection (Series #1 Books 1-10)

Review:This started as a comic book like but interesting story. But the "glitch, pow, hurk!" Became overwhelmingly inane and the story ran around the same circles over and over again. With some vicious editing it might have made a good book or two, but ten?!!!

I started skipping whole books just to get to the resolution. How does Nath get over being vain and childish and bringing his friends to disaster over and over again without learning anything?? Sadly, in the end he just _does_. No real ... Read more

A Novel (Winternight Trilogy) - The Bear and the Nightingale
A Novel (Winternight Trilogy) - The Bear and the Nightingale

Review:I’m not a huge fan of fairytale retellings so this one was a gamble for me. Vasya was a relatable main character but by the end I found myself so distant from the story I didn’t care like I wanted too. Over all I enjoyed the story and finished it rather quickly but I don’t think I’ll pick up the sequel. The world is beautifully written but I hate the cold so I never would actually want to visit. Maybe I’d have enjoyed it more in spring... Read more

A Darker Shade of Magic: A Novel (Shades of Magic)
A Darker Shade of Magic: A Novel (Shades of Magic)

Review:This is an excellently dark story butt not my cup of tea. I can't read fantasy gothic novels if they lack an regular element of delight or humour and this book is consistently distressed. Unlike gaiman novels or many others, it was too unrelenting, too much one side of life,I couldn't read it. Read more

The First Adventure (The Song of the Lioness - Book 1)
The First Adventure (The Song of the Lioness - Book 1)

Review:Wow, this book is really good. You should read it, really. Alanna really wants to be a knight, but she can't. She and her brother switch places, and she trains to be a knight. Alanna has to keep her secret that she is a girl when she goes into training, and it must be really hard since she makes a lot of friends. Imagine having to lie to the King! Many people forsee great danger for Alanna . . . Can Alanna prove that she's just as good as any guy? Read and find out! Read more

The Will of the Empress
The Will of the Empress

Review:reading/watching the relationship between the four is like watching a train wreck! they were in complete discord, even when they seem to be having FUN in the arguments with each other there was like an underlying sense of, i don't know, anger? disaster? if anyone thinks in musical terms, it's like badly clashing notes with nothing to smooth it over. They were each in their on little pool of self pity and 'my experience was worse than yours' i just wanted to smack them all in the face. Not to men... Read more
