Review:Excellent guidance on how to overcome the sometimes invisible psychological barriers that prevent people from starting a project and/or pursuing a goal. Mental traps like the "Fortress Fallacy" and perfectionism are insidious not only in their ability to prevent people from pursuing a goal, but also in their ability to erode confidence over time until so much avoidance turns to a life of regret. The author shows readers how these barriers convincingly give us reasons to avoid projects/goals we w... Read more
Review:As a writer of non-fiction myself, I have recently rediscovered Bradbury. I read his science fiction before I ever started writing (forty-some years ago!)and I am delighted to be led to him again by my Fiction Writing teacher, Marshall Cook, who recommended this book. It is not only informative but also a great inspiration and aid to beginning writers as well as experienced ones. Reading this book sent me back to Amazon for MORE BRADURY!

Review:I will never be a Janet Evanovich and have never read her books although I am familiar with her as a great author. But I do write (only one novel and several non-fiction) but this little book is an excellent and easy read to help aspiring writers with the entire writing process. She begins characters, moves through structure and all the other points many of which I never thought of and ends with publishing and editors and agents, you name it. What I like the most is the question and answer forma... Read more
Review:Katharine Graham's book is a useful study of life in Washington and the Washington Post. This is a very nice audio version of the book. For those who haven't the time to read, or have vision limitations, this is a very good substitute for the book. Read more
Review:Not your ordinary how-to guide at all. Chuck Wendig kept me laughing as he pointed out the numerous pitfalls on the writer's path. Every penmonkey and aspiring penmonkey should read this, even if you've already read a thousand guides for writers -- the hilarious asides and examples are moca-fudge frosting on a big old chocolate cake of good advice.
Note: There is a bit of bad language, so if you can't stand curse words... well, you'll be missing out. Read more
Review:Fabulous book! The structure is clear and the writing is witty. I love the fact that there are matching templates available for download.
I'd recommend buying the digital version since there are embedded links that don't work well if you're reading the hard copy. Read more

Review:I had so many questions concerning character driven outlines and Libbie Hawker cleared it up for me totally.
Her Story Core is Dwight V. Swain's scene points of goal, conflict, disaster which I was glad to see and familiar with and Hawker's
end part on Pacing was outstanding. Libbie Hawker is a good teacher. I highly recommend this book and look forward to de-pantzing. Read more
Review:Buy this book!
There are hundreds, maybe thousands of books for writers. I know, because I've been persuaded to buy many of them. This might be the only one you need.
Rachel draws on her own personal writing experience, shares how she struggled, and then provides step by step directions on what she did to improve. Her guidance saved me from near disaster, I'm sure. The directions she provides are things anyone can (and probably should) do as well. This isn't for the published a... Read more
