This is a great little book, even for seasoned published authors. I keep buying it for my writer friends :-) the sprints are amazing. I set my timer now even when I'm not doing a sprint to help me stay on track. Love!

Wow! I followed Chris' instructions and was a total failure. Not his fault, couldn't break my ingrown habit of editing and correcting my text as I write. The upside, yes my writing speed did increase by about 300 words. Well worth reading for an aspiring novelist or any writer!

This book is a great guide to getting past writer's block, or simply moving away from the slow pace that comes from moving back and forth between writing and editing in one session. It advises a solid behavioral management approach to writing faster: block out distractions, plan an outline, and, starting with short sessions, write as fast as you can without stopping to correct or edit. Move to longer sessions of rapid writing, and track your progress. It is simple and workable for writers nonfiction as well as fiction.

A succinct, no-nonsense book on how to write better prose, faster. The book's full of useful tips and advice written in a style that is earnest and straightforward. Each chapter includes an exercise, and the exercises are conveniently collected and repeated in an appendix at the end of the book. If you're looking for some new tools to increase your writing speeds and decrease your time editing, check this book out. Highly recommended.

I have been writing for years, and have always feared writing fast compromise quality. But now I'm ready to let go and instead of taking 11 years to write a novel, which is how long the novel I've published talk I'm going to see what happens when I let go.

This book made me think anything is possible.

Provides excellent methods for increasing writing and editing speed. My sister and I are now writing significantly faster. Neither of us want to be writers professionally, but it's good to get the words out faster.

A whole lot of people have already reviewed this book, so let me just say one thing that I appreciated about it: Chris keeps it CONCISE. You can read the whole thing in one sitting. The points he illustrates are straight-up, and one after another. There's no dwelling on things with anecdotes or stories of success. It tells you what you want to know, and then sets you on your way. Nicely done, Chris.

Wonderful ideas! Was able to increase my output from about 1,000 words per hour to between 2,400 and 2,600 after implementing his ideas. I haven't tried dictation yet, as he suggests but I hope to soon.

It's a quick read with actionable things you can try today! Highly recommended.

Great advice and easy exercises to follow. I wish the author wasn't constantly referring to his app, because I don't have a smartphone, but there are still plenty of options for the less tech-savvy among us.

I've been enjoying Chris' wisdom on KBoards for years. Now I'm thrilled that he's taken the time to write these wonderful books on the inner workings of being an independent author. This is the first in the series that I read and it's inspired me to roll up my sleeves and get serious. Great advice, encouragement, and exercises to make sure we are doing things instead of just thinking of doing them. If you're an author, these books are a must-read.

This book skips all the boring and useless personnel experiences of the author and jumps right into the heart of the matter. Right from the begining there is actionable steps that got me learning and writing right away. I found this book to be very helpful and I look forward to massive improvements to my writing speeds.

Thanks, Chris Fox.

Very useful strategy for improving your writing productivity. Using Fox's tips I finished a 50,000+ word novel in only 20 days, which is the most I've ever written and certainly the fastest I've ever finished a book. Combine the book with the free app and you're good to go.

This book contained info I can put to immediate use which I appreciate. Picked up because I'm a master of excuses even though I know better. Also, my seventh novel has taken its toll and I figured I needed a dose of something. Turns out, it's probably metrics and massive word counts. :)

This has definitely motivated me! I don't think I'll hit the 5000 words per hour target, but it has given me some invaluable tips to write faster and, more importantly, write regularly.
Highly recommended!

Excellent. Probably--no certainly--the most useful book on writing I've read. Tried the first micro sprint and doubled my usual writing pace. Yes, doubled! And that's with editing after the sprint. (Sorry about that, Chris!) Strongly recommend you give it a try.

I enjoyed reading this approach to improving writing speed, as it really reinforced the idea that if you want to improve at a particular task you need practice to improve your ability, and you need to treat the task at hand with an appropriate level of focus. These are things I know from other areas of life, but had yet to apply to writing.

I highly recommend this book to any writers who dream of becoming successful authors. Mr. Fox cuts to the chase offering great strategies and techniques for increasing word count as well as productivity that are immediately applicable. I started my word sprints 3 days ago and have already increased my word count by 300 words an hour since the first day! Thank you Mr. Fox!

Awesome book. Although it was one of the most difficult things I've ever done, I sat down and wrote about 7k words after reading this. I used the techniques and I have a lot of editing to do, but I can type so quickly, it didn't take me long to get to 7k!

Clear, concise and oh-so thought provoking. Chris Fox provided answers which I'm definitely committed to following in order to hit the goal--because even if I don't make it to 5k an hour, with his suggestions and ideas I can see myself doing 5k a day. A DAY, people! Clearly a recommended read.

This book offers solid advice for improving your writing output. A must-read if you are looking to improve your writing habits or as a refresher to get back into writing mode. [Purchased in response to his youtube videos which I also get a lot out of. I intend to purchase more books in series in the not-so-distant future.]

I enjoyed this book because it really made me evaluate my writing process and see where my opportunity areas are. And like all Chris Fox books, there are some fantastic, extremely actionable exercises that stimulate immediate movement in the right direction. I see that writing quickly doesn't have to mean writing poorly, and I'm excited to prove that to myself!
