Review:THE BEAST IN THE GARDEN
BY

This 277-page book is an important contribution to our understanding of the increasing interactions between large carnivores and humans. The author is a seasoned writer about science and environmental issues for National Public Radio and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. This factual book chronicles the series of develops in both human and mountain lion behavior that eventually lead to an unthinkabl... Read more
Review:Nobody is powerful and stunning in its breadth and depth of analysis. There are many things to be written about the violence that Black and poor bodies face throughout this nation, but only this book could have been written by Marc Lamont Hill. Hill keenly pulls on sociology, legal studies, and myriad other traditions to highlight the common thread of State violence and its influence on the most vulnerable. This book is a must read for those just coming to the topic as well as those well versed ... Read more
Review:Back to Work by Bill Clinton
I highly recommend that everyone, who intends to vote in November 2012, read this timely book. If you are a democrat, Clinton has pulled together the best arguments for a proactive government. He is giving you the tools for persuading undecided voters. If you are a republican, you will be a better informed citizen if you listen to both sides of the debate. If you are an independent, you really do hold the future of our country in your hands. It is especially vital... Read more
Review:For someone who has provided medical care to female prisoners for over twenty-five years there is great insight, both historically and factually, to be gleaned from this "opposite" point of view. All law enforcement and medical people should be required to read this book and contemplate its lesson. It is clearly the best review of the subject I have read. Read more
Review:This book is an interesting read covering a large amount of historical societies. Unfortunately, the two societies covered the most extensively were to me the least interesting. Still worth reading in hopes of learning from past mistakes. Read more
Review:This book shows how the politicians and cheap labor tech people are trying to destroy the tech industry and the careers of decent hardworking Americans.
This is especially bad as the tech industry is an area where average people can go to school and with some effort and discipline hopefully get a well paying long term job. The politicians talk about well paying long term jobs and they actively attack and attempt to destroy an industry and the careers of their citizens. This is terrible. A... Read more
Review:John does it again and delivers a concise and comprehensive analysis of the work of "Economic Hitmen", as well as how to see the extension and graduation of their work here in the United States. A must read for anyone desirous of peeking behind the curtain of global politics and economics. BUY THIS BOOK!! Read more
Review:As always with Jon Krakauer a wonderful book. Informative, detailed and with whatever he brings up about Mortenson well substantiated. A great story to read made overly pleasant by one of the best writers there is! Read more
Review:This was a good book. I love depressing memoirs and this fit the bill for 80% of the book. I didn't really like that it gave a weird 1/2 foreshadowing at the very beginning then goes all the back so then you know exactly when her parents get deported so you're not really getting into the full shock of it all for her. It wasn't like everyone didn't know, it says it on the book jacket but you otherwise it would have been more in keeping with the trauma of the story. She works hard to achieve her d... Read more
