Mystery
Review:This story was very predictable. The characters were one dimensional. The author described almost everyone as tall, thin with either blue or brown eyes. Sentence structure was repetitive. The only reason I finished this book was because I was out of town and nothing else to read. Read more
Review:Heather Webber has written a chick lit masterpiece!! I loved this book, and I especially loved Lucy Valentine. Lucy is slightly crazy (who of us isn't?) but has a huge heart, and I believe that's what makes it so enjoyable. For all of Lucy's failings, she does things with the best of intentions. I really look forward to the next Lucy Valentine book - the only thing I hate about this series is that I have to wait for the next one!! Read more
Review:Who knew southern Indiana could be so picturesque, or so deadly? In Maddie Day’s, Flipped for Murder, protagonist, Robbie Jordan, must solve the murder of a local bureaucrat before she can happily live her dream of running a successful country store/diner. While solving the murder, Robbie takes the reader on scenic bicycle rides, describes delicious food, introduces friends and foes, rescues a stray cat, and starts to unravel secrets of her own past. Oh, and then there are the two men who’d like... Read more
Review:A generally satisfying crime story, with two narrative strands. The first one centres on a group of five women setting out on a teamwork three day experience in dense bushland, also the site of serial murders some time in the past. Five set out, but only four return. The second strand follows the search for the missing woman and two federal police are involved because they are investigating possible money laundering in the company the women work for.
The truth is revealed in flashbacks about ... Read more
Review:I love Rita Mae Brown, so I tolerate her tendency to have the characters launch into preachy monologues that rarely sound like the way people usually talk. I think her older novels are vastly superior to the mystery series, but I keep reading them. There are a few things in this book that were made me really not like this book.
First, the some of the segues were clunky.
Second - and I will admit I may be being a touch snobby about this - but the book included a medical doctor talki... Read more
Review:High school reunions can be murder but in this case it is literally true. The returning class mates have more than wrinkles, added pounds and bald spots to worry about. Someone is killing the class one by one and Harry is a suspect and possibly the next victem. The suspense builds from page to page as the committee plans the big event, Harry buys a new truck, and both Harry and Miranda are wooed by old flames. As usual the animals are a step ahead of the humans and come to the rescue when nee... Read more

Review:It maybe RMB has finally become financially comfortable enough to not work as hard at her books as in the past... maybe she is meeting new groups of people with her fame, maybe it's a combination of both or more. I'm not exactly sure, but this I do understand... Sour Puss is definitely not her best. It is too easy to figure out the plot just by reading the character introductions....Harry's character seems to wax and fawn over the Kluges and their social, financial and political views, and Ha... Review:Being from Virginia, I especially loved the depictions of the countryside. I find Rita Mae Brown's fox hunting mysteries hard to put down. The stories are true to the genre, fast paced and a blend of humor and mystery. Highly recommend. Read more
Review:As always it was great to return for another visit to Albemarle County, especially Harry's farm out side of Crozet, VA. Got keep track of that girl and her friends (all of them--4-legged, 2-legged & no legged). I congratulate Sneaky Pie on another page turner! Read more
