Review:The title of this book really should have been “The Magnificent and Marvelous Sophie.”
Yes, the promo blurb promised us a murder in Roe’s backyard and we got that. Yes, that same blurb promised us that Roe’s babysitter would disappear but not turn out to be the dead body, and we got that, too.
What we also got was at least one-half of the word count consumed by Roe telling us how being a first-time parent in her late-thirties has affected her. We also got at least one-quarter of th... Read more
Review:I loved this book--I am a HUGE C. Harris fan, but I think Harper and Tolliver are great fun.
I think this book was by far the best in the series...I love the romance between Harper and Tolliver and hope that Harris keeps treating us to little glimpses into that part of their partnership.
Couldn't put this book down! Mystery lovers, with a penchant for supernatural overtones, this BOOK IS FOR YOU!!!! Read more
Review:Charlaine Harris produces stylish well written books that provide the reader with can't put down mysteries. In book one of the Shakespeare series the heroine is Lily Bard. Once again Charlaine has created a character who is easy to like, sympathise with and cheer for. Thank you Ms Harris, long may you continue to bring happiness to your devoted readers. Read more
Review:Sookie continues to deal with vampires and their hunters, with weres and her troublesome brother, with deadly supernatural politics that mere humans shouldn't easily survive. But the one thing Sookie is, is a survivor. After the big explosion in the last book that took out many an immortal and powerful vamp, Sookie is back at home in Bon Temps, LA, working at Merlotte's Bar for her friend and boss, Sam, and worrying about nothing more than the double wedding of her friend Halleigh and Portia B... Review:Good start to the novel - kind of bad conclusion.
I got the book because I went through a Charlaine Harris phase where I bought everything by her - I fell in love with Sookie and decided to give every other story a chance. Some I loved, others fell kind of short regarding my expectations for them.
This was one of the latter.
The premise is promising, and although the novel has a fast pace that makes it enjoyable, characters are somewhat one-dimensional, and the resolution to the conflic... Read more
Review:I loved these books. Could not put them down. I read the Twilight series first and really enjoyed them. Then I moved on to the Sookie Books and loved them even more. The content is more adult and I just love the action and characters. Totally addictive, HIGHLY RECOMEND! Read more
Review:The Sookie Stackhouse series does it again. In the sixth book in the series I notice a theme starting that I just try to push through. I know it's necessary to the story and other readers who may not have started the series from the beginning but for me going over everything again and again is just getting tedious. It still hasn't stopped me from picking up book 7 and probably more after that.
Sookie starts dating Quinn the Were tiger from the previous novel. She goes to New Orleans to cl... Read more
Review:Shakespeare's Christmas by Charlaine Harris was released in 1998. A wonderfully written murder mystery with heart. Lily andf Jack are a great pair investigating all the crimes. Fans of Charlaine Harris will like this the most. Read more
Review:The seventh book in the Southern Vampire Series finds our Sookie attending the Mid West Vampire Conference with the queen of Louisiana and her entourage. Sookie's been hired to use her telepathic abilities to aid the queen, but Sookie's also hoping to spend some time with her weretiger boyfriend, Quinn. This being Sookie Stackhouse we're discussing, naturally things don't go as planned and Sookie soon finds herself facing murders, trials, and bombings. In addition, Sookie's fending off Eric t... Review:Aurora Teagarden series came to be a guilty pleasure of mine. I know these are not the best mystery books out there and they are not as exciting as the books in Sookie Stackhouse series, but Charlaine Harris never disappoints me with her engaging writing style. I have no idea how she manages to make mundane everyday things so interesting to follow.
In this book Roe (again) finds herself an epicenter of various crimes: a body is dropped onto her yard from an airplane; her bodyguard is foun... Read more
