Review:Being from Virginia, I especially loved the depictions of the countryside. I find Rita Mae Brown's fox hunting mysteries hard to put down. The stories are true to the genre, fast paced and a blend of humor and mystery. Highly recommend. Read more
Review:As always it was great to return for another visit to Albemarle County, especially Harry's farm out side of Crozet, VA. Got keep track of that girl and her friends (all of them--4-legged, 2-legged & no legged). I congratulate Sneaky Pie on another page turner! Read more
Review:Her method of going back and forth in generations is interesting but sometimes confusing if you have read past your tired point - something most Kindle users do. I love the way she writes and look forward to many more books by her. Read more
Review:I should start by admitting that this series is one of my guilty pleasures, so I was particularly sad to discover this latest installment lacked the charm I usually find. The plot seemed contrived solely to advance the political and social issues Ms. Brown wanted to explore. I don't object to the sentiments she expressed, as a matter of fact her politics and mine are closely aligned, however there was an atypical clumsiness to the way her themes were interwoven into the story line, and it felt a... Review:This is a wonderful book for everyone. The mystery is intriguing and so are the characters. They all add their special brand of humor and vitality to the book. The animals are always a step ahead of the humans in finding out who the murderer is although they don't have time to figure it out themselves. The murderer slips near the end and you'll know who it is if you pay attention. Of course, if you read the other books before this one, you'll know who it is from the start. So, my advic... Read more
Review:In Chapter 22 of the book, Cooper says, "Well, no one want to know what a sheriff's deputy thinks about the world's confusion." The same should be said for mystery writers.
In her later books, and especially in this one, Ms. Brown has her characters pontificating on the law and government way too much of the time. It's time to get back to emphasis on the good old-fashioned mystery aspects. Read more
Review:Absorbing as always. I love Barbara Havers, who always retains her essential self while changing outwardly. Here she takes up tap dancing, and loses weight. Lynley, the perfect gentleman, finally takes steps to make his "guv" seek help with her drinking. I couldn't put it down, and I didn't want it to end. Read more
Review:Love Spencer Quinn's Chet and Bernie series of books. They are told from the dog's point of view. He is Chet. His human is Bernie. They are private investigators. Hilariously funny, good story lines. If you love dogs like I do you will enjoy this book and the others as well. Read more
Review:This book is an extremely revealing look at the mind of an individual dealing with PTSD. As such, it is well-written and illuminating for those of us without much experience in that area. The reason I gave it only three starts is because if you are looking for the delightful and warm characters in all of Spencer Quinn's other books, you won't find them here. I finished reading this book with the hope that if there is a sequel it will develop the relationship between the characters, which did not... Read more
Review:The ladies from Botswana always bring us joy and thought provoking situations. We welcome them as old friends, tried and true, and just a bit predictable. But no outcome is certain, and human motivation is often complex, and not what it seems. Is forgiveness just a great biblical theory, or does it really apply to us? Read more
