The History of Love (Penguin Essentials)
The History of Love (Penguin Essentials)

Review:I am sincerely surprised by the amount of positive acclaim for this book. I love a book which has different chapters written from different character's view points but this was just too confusing until the very end when it finally begun to make sense but the ending definitely left something to be desired. And after it was all said and done, I felt like I had wasted my time. Just not an interesting story - pass on this one! Read more

Foucault's Pendulum
Foucault's Pendulum

Review:An investigative novel for the intellectual. Traces the West's search for the Holy Grail of Universal Truth via the post-modern exploits of a trio of editors in Italy searching for plot and narrative amongst the elusive histories of the alchemical and esoteric Templars. Secret societies whose absence proves their existence (or else they wouldn't be secret)! Secret knowledge, the inscrutability of which proves its depth! Unless you are an European intellectual yourself, you will need a dictionary... Read more

The Trouble with Goats and Sheep: A Novel
The Trouble with Goats and Sheep: A Novel

Review:I bought this book because it got excellent ratings and sounded as though it would be one that my nine-year-granddaughter might enjoy since the story is about two ten-year-old girls trying to solve the mystery of Mrs. Creasy’s disappearance. None of the adults take religion seriously, but the girls hear the vicar say that God is everywhere so they search for Him, thinking He will take care of Mrs. Creasy. By the end of the book the girls have come to the conclusion that (1) religion is superst... Read more

Amy and Isabelle: A Novel (Vintage Contemporaries)

Review:This book emotionally turned me inside out and shredded me into little bits. Ms. Strout has the ability to convey human anguish on a visceral level with the same power commanded by George Eliot. What a masterpiece! Read more

All Grown Up
All Grown Up

Review:When it comes to books I hate leaving reviews that give away anything in the book. So, I won't be giving anything away with what happens in the book or anything about the book.

I have to say that I very much enjoyed this book. I loved how the author wrote the characters, developed them, and the story had me hook line and sinker from the very beginning. Every word kept me reading further and turning the page. I can't wait to read more from this author. Great book. Read more

A gripping psychological thriller with an ending you won’t see coming

Review:The story started out a little slow. It seemed to have too many things going on at one time. However, when the pieces started to come together I could not stop reading. That ending though.....I didn't see it coming until it was too late!! Read more

Night's Honor (Elder Races Book 7)
Night's Honor (Elder Races Book 7)

Review:I really like the Elder Books. I enjoy the strong yet flawed characters, the verbal sparring, the funny parts, the touching parts. This one was a bit...boring. I actually read it twice to make sure I didn't miss anything. The build up to the Bad Guy Confrontation seemed to go poof rather than bang. Xavier seemed almost too perfect and patient. I kept waiting for him to show some strong emotion outside the tepid descriptions. I am looking forward to the next book since the lead characters ... Read more

Storm's Heart (Elder Races Book 2)
Storm's Heart (Elder Races Book 2)

Review:4.5 Stars... Loved, loved, loved this story from start to finish... Niniane and Tiago were a great mix of sweet, sassy, and sexy; their chemistry was off the charts, but I enjoyed their witty banter, humor, and tender moments that provided substance to their connection... A strong storyline steeped in political intrigue and betrayal provided an interesting framework in which the story to evolved... Dynamic secondary characters lent themselves to the complexity of the storyline and created an int... Read more
