Bradbury Stories: 100 of His Most Celebrated Tales
Bradbury Stories: 100 of His Most Celebrated Tales

Review:I just really love his writing style. He made me love reading when I was a teenager, and I'm quite a bit older than that now! He brings back characters and places into new told stories and you feel like they are your old friends and hangouts. He can be a funny guy too. Very witty. Read more

The Mars Room: A Novel
The Mars Room: A Novel

Review:This novel is the real thing. I've recommended it to many formerly incarcerated women who I work with and they all agree. It's important and brilliant, a page-turner. Too bad it's not out in paperback yet, so I can't send it to prisoners. Read more

Mason & Dixon
Mason & Dixon

Review:I loved it. The relationship between Mason & Dixon is one of those classic Captian Kirk/Mr. Spock or Aubery/Materin type mismatched friendships. There is a serious and profound underlying theme about the effects of slavery on the psyche of the slave owners. But most of all I just loved reading the blend of imaginary and real, the mix of slapstick and seriousness, the made-up language a la "Clockwork Orange". The whole concoction is amazing and wonderful. Read more

A Tale of Two Cities
A Tale of Two Cities

Review:Brilliant, epic coming of age story.

In this ambitious, massive novel, Dickens brings plots, subplots, and unforgettable characters together to address themes of wealth's corrosive influence, the pain of love, and the meaning of friendship.

Although written in a dated, flowery, difficult style (by design), the actual ideas that Dickens explores are timeless. Not an easy read, but a worthwhile read.

The tone is dark, gothic, and foreboding. Dickens at times is lyrical in hi... Read more

Sweet Liar (The Montgomery/Taggert Family Book 6)

Review:One of my all-time favorites from Jude Deveraux. I try to read it at least once a year so that I can drench myself in the romance and history. I recommend this book to all my friends, along with Knight in Shining Armor. Read more

Wishes (The Montgomery/Taggert Family Book 7)
Wishes (The Montgomery/Taggert Family Book 7)

Review:I actually bought this book and wished I had not. I found the heroine to be disgusting. I made it through two chapters and she had already shoved nine pieces of chocolate candy into her mouth at once. That image totally turned me off. I get tired of all of the perfect, size 1 heroines, but this was going too far the other way. I have not read anymore and doubt that I will. Not all overweight women eat like that and starting a stereotype of them this way is disgusting. Read more

Fever: A Novel
Fever: A Novel

Review:It was impossible to put down once started. A heartbreaking story of a woman who could not understand what was being done to her. It takes the reader on a fast race while we cheer her on and wish her to understand and for someone to take the time to explain her condition. It was sad, but the triumph of her spirit was inspirational. Definitely I would recommend reading it. Read more

Moll Flanders - Classic Illustrated Edition
Moll Flanders - Classic Illustrated Edition

Review:What happened with all the other children and what kind of mother just does not care? She raises her self up so high with this one child and calls herself a caring mother when in fact she is far from that. She is a selfish heartless character and lacks common sense to see that. Don't get me wrong I like the story just she made me so angry with the me me me instead of the US US US. Read more

A Dark Captive Romance (Beauty & The Darkness Book 1)
A Dark Captive Romance (Beauty & The Darkness Book 1)

Review:5 unbelievable dark and twisted stars! This is not a typical romance and although it does have some romance undertones, it is a book about the obsessive unhealthy side of love. This type of love that consumes you and leaves you raw and broken. This entire book will bring you through the ringer emotionally and leave you filled with anger, while trying to hold onto a bit of hope that things will change.
Ava has always taken care of herself, from the time that she was a little girl, now with her... Read more
