Review:I absolutely adore Jenny Lawson and her work, and this book is no exception. It is so relaxing working my way through the pages, occasionally coloring bits here and there if I want to. Her words mean so much on each page. Definitely a buy you won't regret! Read more
Review:I read the Everyman's Library Glenny Translation.
This is a mixture of the bizarre and the familiar. The writing itself is a bit of both, the story subject is a bit of both and the characters are a bit of both. I thoroughly enjoyed the 'flashbacks' and almost wish the whole story was just those events, but I also enjoyed the chaotic and seemingly random way the modern part of the story developed, not that I even fully understood it all, mayhaps a second read is in order. It is not a di... Read more
Review:This is a brilliant novel, very funny, yet tragic, very moving, and very observant.
_The Master and Margarita_ is set in Moscow, apparently in the '20s or '30s. One day a couple of literati are talking when they meet a strange man. Before long the man is laughing at there confident assertion that the Jesus and the Devil don't exist, and telling a story about Pontius Pilate and his encounter with Jesus, or Yeshua, and also predicting the death of one of the two men. When the death occurs, t... Read more

Review:Disappointing because the conversation bunches from place to place and it never seems a line of thought is finished. I am not really seeing what is suppose to be so great about this Campbell guy. Seems like somewhere along the line someone said he was great and the lemmings follow. Perhaps I will give him a third strike but this book and a DVD did nothing for me. Read more
Review:To quote a friend of mine who is a classics professor at a top 25 American university - Edith Hamilton is a hack! If you want to understand Greek philosophy and how it developed, do NOT buy this book. It gives a totally incorrect narrative and background. If you want to understand this era, I would recommend starting with Arthur Herman's "The Light and the Cave." While that book contains some error, it is extremely readable and, for the most part, accurate. For the historical bluff on Amer... Read more
Review:I loved this book before I had only a vague idea about Norse mythology and I now understand all off the important concepts and more about the most major gods. However I think any one under 13 might get bored. Read more
Review:"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you." -- Matthew 7:1-2 (NKJV)
Daisy Miller is the essence of a well-written novella: deep characterizations developed through a variety of interactions, minimal prose to capture a point, carefully balanced action that rounds out a message, plenty of exhibition of internal thoughts and feelings, and stark contrasts in personal philosophies. Whi... Read more
Review:I am an educated individual and have pursued esoteric works for years. I do not know why this was published. If it makes sense to you, I suggest you stop taking LSD or check into the closest mental health facility for treatment. A total waste of paper and my money. Read more
Review:I really enjoyed Bella and Zsadist short story. It was a really nice treat to see an update on a great couple from the brotherhood. Now i will admit the interviews characters part was fun but you can find basically the same stuff on her website, but they seemed updated. I really like when she explained the way she wrote each book. Speaking of which i was surprised and delighted the way she felt Lover Unbound was dificult to write. I felt Lover Unbound was the worst in the series and now i know w... Read more
