Surprised by Joy: The Shape of My Early Life
Surprised by Joy: The Shape of My Early Life

Review:This is a good book, and deserves more stars. My review is on the quality of the kindle edition. There are OCR problems throughout the book. Many times the word "live" is written "five" in the book. There's even a spot where there is an unprintable character that didn't get fixed. The whole book needs to be proofread and corrected after the scan from the original. This book should be much cheeper if there was little to no cost in it's production. (Since it's pretty obvious no actual edito... Read more

The Story of the U.S. Army's First Blind Active-Duty Officer

Review:Captain Scotty Smiley, might not see things like we do, but it doesn't mean he doesn't see what is important and how to live his life despite seemingly difficult circumstances. While serving in Mosul in Iraq he became the target of a suicide bomber and subsequently lost his eyesight. He could have dealt with things as most of us would have and simply come home and attempt to live a life as best as he could now being completely blind, but he didn't. The Golden Bough (Penguin Modern Classics)
The Golden Bough (Penguin Modern Classics)

Review:Disappointed in this Dead Dodo Vintage edition. No table on contents available from the sidebar. Only the cover. Thus either a lot of bookmarking or a straight through read. Formatting is fine. Better to get the SMK Books edition (2015). Read more

Leaving Church: A Memoir of Faith
Leaving Church: A Memoir of Faith

Review:I thought this book was very good. For someone interested in church and what a church is about it was tops. I thought that there were many things written about that would help a persons understanding about God. also it helped me to understand church leaders better. If you are not interested in going to church all the time and expanding your knowledge of God you may not get out of what the author is trying to tell you as much as I did. Read more

The Allegory of Love
The Allegory of Love

Review:The cover was wrapped around all of the pages and glued very neatly to the spine. All pages were of an off-white of which facilitated a more pleasant reading experience. The inked letters had clearly defined edges and all of the words were legible. All in all a very well made book. Read more

Giants: Sons of the Gods
Giants: Sons of the Gods

Review:This is very informative and obviously a lot of research went into it. But, The Introduction is so convoluted I had to read it twice and It's still not clear. Once you get past the Introduction It's better except the author jumps all over the place and makes his ideas harder to follow. Read more

Leadership in the Age of the Quick Fix - A Failure of Nerve
Leadership in the Age of the Quick Fix - A Failure of Nerve

Review:Not an easy read and compilers evidently didn't want to edit out too much material. The cost of the book is outrageous for a paperback. But...there is a lot of deep thought and experience there to chew on is short doses. Read more
