Box Me Up and Ship Me Home - If I Die in a Combat Zone
Box Me Up and Ship Me Home - If I Die in a Combat Zone

Review:I think this is an average book, although quite honest from the Author. I have heard a lot of Tim O'Brien but this is the first book I read of his. It is much more an anti-war book then a war book. In this account anyway, I find the Author's arrogance towards other soldiers who he calls GI's although I hadn't heard that term in reference to someone in the Army since WWII. I might not have heard it due to where I served in the Marines, small, remote areas in and near the DMZ. And my experience do... Read more

The Epic Account of World War II's Greatest Rescue Mission
The Epic Account of World War II's Greatest Rescue Mission

Review:This is an excellent book for anyone who wants to learn more about the Bataan Death March in Philippines during the Second World War. Most people, have focused on Iwo Jima, Peleliu, and Okinawa to learn more about the ordeals of soldiers in World War II and have often "forget" about these brave souls in Philipines. In "Ghost Soldiers", Hampton Sides gives these forgotten soldiers, voices.
This book deals with both the successful rescue effort by the 6th Ranger and the ordeal of the prisoners ... Read more

Storm of Steel: (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition)
Storm of Steel: (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition)

Review:Since its publication in 1920, Storm of Steel, written by Ernst Junger, has been surrounded by controversy. Many have misunderstood Junger and accused him of attempting to glorify war. I saw no evidence of the glorification of war in his book. Junger has obviously been desensitized to violence does not show much emotion to the atrocities of war that he witnesses. However, I did see evidence of compassion and a longing for the life that he had before the war.
I finished this book in less than... Read more

Review:Robert Mason does a great job of relating his experiences as a helicopter pilot in Viet Nam. His book is descriptive and understandable to the reader even if you are not a pilot. His memory and detail of the missions he flew, training, and army life makes this a highly interesting Viet Nam war book. If these pilots survived, they got highly skilled at what they were doing. I have a greater appreciation for how specialized and stressful a combat helicopter pilot's job is. Read more

An Epic Story of Vengeance - and WWII - The Brigade

Review:I was inspired by this important part of Jewish history that took place primarily in the late days of WWll. I was unaware of much of the activity involving these heros in there attempts to save so many concentration camp survivors while facilitating their return to Israel. Read more

The POWs Who Endured Vietnam's Most Infamous Prison
The POWs Who Endured Vietnam's Most Infamous Prison

Review:I love reading anything written about our brave POWs during the Vietnam war, many of whom were personal friends of my husband and myself. Also the courageous and faithfulness of their wives as they were holding down the home w/out the support of their husbands. Read more

Mekong Mud Dogs: Story of: Sgt. Ed Eaton
Mekong Mud Dogs: Story of: Sgt. Ed Eaton

Review:Proudly served - July 1968 to July 1969 in the Mobile Riverene Forces as a 50 Cal. Machine gunner (River Rat).
This book is excellent. It's gripping, it's accurate, and it's real. It is extremely difficult to describe/convey the horrors of combat through the written word. SGT Ed Eaton does that and he does it extremely well in 'Mekong Mud Dogs'.

Glad to add this to my library. A great read - Highly recommend this book.

The Plot to Assassinate General George S. Patton (World War II Collection)
The Plot to Assassinate General George S. Patton (World War II Collection)

Review:I have always thought about the secret societies within the United States and rest of the World. This book makes valid my suspicions of assassinations in the United States, back in the sixties. Lone crazed gunman indeed. No conspiracies ever found, witnesses die accidentally and evidence disappears. How naive can anyone be. In my opinion Patton was murdered. Read more
