I have always thought about the secret societies within the United States and rest of the World. This book makes valid my suspicions of assassinations in the United States, back in the sixties. Lone crazed gunman indeed. No conspiracies ever found, witnesses die accidentally and evidence disappears. How naive can anyone be. In my opinion Patton was murdered.

This book is a great read esepecially for history buffs. My conclusion is that Patton was murdered, and Ike, Marshall, Smith, and many othes contributed up to and including the USSR. Hang on it's a great ride although a tragic one!

Very enlightening Opens ones eyes to the real world---not only a great history journey but it gets one to thinking about what is really taking place now. It should effect ones take on not only our leaders but on the reportings in the media.

Who then, if anyone, murdered General Patton? Was it FDR? The Soviets with Stalin behind them? The Democrats? The Republicans? A man with a gaseous gun? The enemies he accumulated during the war? An assassin with an embolism-causing syringe? The book is easy reading and I finished it in two days but I was waiting for hard evidence with each turn of a page. There is too much speculation for any true conclusion to be drawn and too many shady characters whose identities don't pan out. There are, however, eery similarities to JFK's assassination, including the mystery of Patton's vehicle which was dismantled shortly after the accident, the differing eye witness accounts of where Patton himself was positioned at the time of the crash, and conflicting testimony from examining physicians. The book is pretty fantastic and the author pursues many leads and eye-witnesses but truly fails to answer the question: Was General Patton murdered? With no body to be re-examined, no autopsy performed, and no credible witnesses or accounts, we'll never know. Enjoy the book but prepare yourself to finish it with the same question mark you started with.

makes a compelling argument, the facts are well presented and it is evident that the author has completed a tremendous amount of research. I have seen television programs that think this was no more than an accident, but after reading this book, looking at the evidence presented, the left wing politics of FDR, his cabinet appointees and the communist leaning of his Master Spy Bill Donavan it makes perfect since that having Patton out of the way would make it easier for the communist to continue with their plans for world domination. And as history has shown the Cold War started before the end of WW2 and continued for 50 years, I have to wonder if Patton had lived would or could this have been prevented.

I found the subject matter to be extremely interesting, however I thought too much time was spent on supporting characters. I know this was required to establish credibility for the subjects, but thought it could be condensed somewhat. Still, overall, a good read.

Excellent book that makes it quite clear that Patton was indeed assassinated by OSS forces with the assistance of the Soviets. The Soviet motives are relatively easy to understand, Stalin killed anyone who opposed him or whom he saw as a threat to his Fascist, Totalitarian plans, and Patton was most definitely a threat! The OSS's motives are not so easy to see and this book leaves that question somewhat unanswered as the admitted Assassin did not really explain the reasons for the directive or who gave the directive to Donovan.

It sheds a whole new light on who Patton was. Indeed a great American Hero and who very possibly died an early death because he was too outspoken about the fact that the Russians were violating the letter and the spirit of the Yalta agreement and were in fact neutering the very principles for which we fought the war: the right of a nations people to self determination. To paraphrase Patton "If we don't push the Russians back to their own borders, we will have won the battle but lost the war and failed to honor the spirit in which we fought it!"

This book also introduced me to the "Venona Project" which any student of WWII History MUST familiarize themselves with. It sheds an entirely new light on many things which shaped our world even today.

Was Patton assassinated? I don't know. I do know he was extremely unliked by the American top brass. I also know he was planning on resigning his commission and speaking a little truth after the war? A coincidence he died in a car accident shortly thereafter? Read this book, and you will have read some words.

A good read, well written and supported by many documented facts. I would recommend this to all history buffs and for those that can take other points of view into consideration without throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Can we ever know the true facts after all the cover-ups and disinformation?

Having lived during WWII and visiting Patton's grave at The Luxembourg American Cemetery, " Ole Blood and Guts" was a real Icon, remembering when he pissed in the Rhine to insult the Nazies and was reported he started to swim the river before his unauthorized crossing. Although I have always heard stories of his murder I knew nothing of so many facts and theories. It took a little long in introducing the spy activity but it all came together in the end. It is filled with facts that truly make this an interesting read to an old vet and war buff.

An outstanding read.Great research and detail.I rank this work by Robert K Wilcox higher than O'Reilly's "Killing Patton",the latter which I read first. The truth may never be known if General Patton was assassinated and by whom.Too many years have passed, documents lost, missing or destroyed, intentionally or un intentionally as well as all key players are now deceased. The truth may only be known,as the author suggest,is to exhume General Patton's remains and conduct scientific chemical testing. That would at least determine the actual cause of death. Will this ever happen and who ,(The President ? ) will make such a decision?

Excellent! A must read for anyone who thinks things in government are always as they appear. The information on the Venona Project alone will open even the biggest kool aid drinkers eyes.

As with most books that put together pieces from history to tell a story, this one is not the easiest read, but well worth the time.

NOT ONLY DOES WILCOX MAKE A PERSUASIVE CASE THAT THIS GREAT AMERICAN WAS ASSASSINATED, BUT (AND MOREOVER) HE TIES IT TO THE LARGER CONTEXT OF THE THEN EMERGING COLD WAR, THE POLITICAL ASSASSINATIONS OF THE '50S AND '60S (JFK?) THAT RESULTED AND THUS ALLOWS THE READER TO SEE THE CONNECTION ALL THE WAY TO MODERN EUROPEAN POLITICS AND RUSSIA'S RESURGENCE. ADDITIONALLY,THE CHARACTER SKETCHES OF BOTH MAJOR AND MINOR FIGURES IN THIS STORY ARE FASCINATING AND ILLUMINATING. A GREAT READ FOR THAT REASON ALONE. BUT IT IS SO MUCH MORE. KUDOS TO MR. WILCOX FOR TAKING ON THIS MYSTERY, AND "WELL DONE" FOR HAVING DRAWN THIS DISITURBING QUESTION OUT OF THE DARKNESS AND INTO AN INCREASINGLY BRIGHTER LIGHT.

A well researched look into the nearly untold story of Patton, the man who would have undoubtedly entered politics after his military career, drastically changed this country for the better, and his odd fate.

Too many coincidences to disregard. In some ways, it's good that history in school does not tarnish the reputation of General Patton..he died a Hero of the USA! Had he not been assassinated, one can only wonder the impacts on the world had he came back to the United States after the war; and told all that he knew.
