Review:A very happy cookbook with a family focus. The chances that we will marry into the Pollan family or be invited over for dinner are small; so this is the next best thing.
I recommend the Pollan signature salad that includes mesclun, walnuts, pear, and a mustard, raspberry vinegar, olive oil, balsamic vinegar dressing (it is made by each of the sisters, their mother and brother; and it is requested by their friends and family for potlucks); the golden baby artichokes with lemon zest; their... Review:This book is serious! This is not some watered-down "How To" booklet. This was actually a little over my head. It is technical and designed to teach someone who actually wants to learn about distilling. If you really want to know about home distilling, this is the book! Read more
Review:This book has completely changed everything I thought I knew about whiskey! I learned something new every time I sat down to
read it. As a professional bartender I found the information on how to taste whiskey extremely helpful, it has already helped me to

Review:I was not impresed with this book. While everything is sorted it is still kind of piled together(small print and crapping newprint paper with no space between anything). I looked up some of my favorite and the recipes were messed up. Read more
Review:It's very difficult to read considering they have typos like crazy. They reference Italian fish by the wrong name, so you're really getting a lot of misinformation. Overall, the title is misleading. It's more a series of small interviews and insights into some professional chefs, with a general theme that runs throughout the pages that "less is more." There are a few ideas on how some of the chefs construct their menus, and ingredients that go together. Read more
Review:It's a fascinating and immensely helpful book for those who want to make not just good cocktails but great cocktails. Even if you only care about an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan, Dave's pages (yes pages) on these two are amazingly useful. Sure, you can just use the pages of recipes and formula tables to make your drinks but really this is a book for those who want to know a bit more about what makes a good drink. Dave tackles everything from the basic classics that require nothing but booze, ice... Read more
Review:I initially discovered this through the library, but there was so much information I kept going back to (and I certainly didn't want to write in the library's copy!) so I just had to break down and buy one to keep. :) Read more
