Review:Nicholas Sansbury Smith has really crushed it with this Book 7 of the Extinction Series, Extinction War. Had the action gotten any more exciting than it is, I don't think I could have finished this zompoc novel. The characters readers of the series have cared about for some time now have changed a lot. Some have passed on as a result of the zombie war and the military coup. Heck, I even miss a mouse from the book! Captain Beckham, now Captain Beckham, has undergone drastic physical changes but h... Review:Spell Bound is book 12 in the Women of the Otherworld series, and it is told from the perspective of Savannah, so it has definite YA crossover potential. I love this series, Elena and Clay are probably my favorite characters, but Eve and Savannah run very close seconds. I was very excited to dive back into the Otherworld and find out what craziness Savannah would get herself into this time.
Turns out that Savannah has lost her powers, and with the madness that always seems to follow thi... Read more
Review:An investigative novel for the intellectual. Traces the West's search for the Holy Grail of Universal Truth via the post-modern exploits of a trio of editors in Italy searching for plot and narrative amongst the elusive histories of the alchemical and esoteric Templars. Secret societies whose absence proves their existence (or else they wouldn't be secret)! Secret knowledge, the inscrutability of which proves its depth! Unless you are an European intellectual yourself, you will need a dictionary... Read more

Review:Whenever I see that a book is in first person POV I get a little anxious because I absolutely hate or more like strongly dislike this POV. I have found that most, if not all, Urban Fantasy books are in first person and that I love the stories. There is so much going on the life if the main character and said character is oft times so mature that I don’t mind been in just their mind.
This is one of those times. Merit is a geeky grad student that has been changed into a vampire after an a... Read more
Review:I'm a grandmother, somewhere between menopause and death, and my usual selection of books would never include a monster book (except for the Twilight series maybe), but this was a free book for Kindle, so I downloaded it. Late one night, I finished "The Help" (excellent) and just opened this to prove to myself that I didn't like it, and I could delete it from my Kindle. I read a couple of pages, then a couple more, and before you know it, my husband is going to bed and I'm sitting up, scared to ... Read more
Review:This book is like a bad casserole. Everything you ever heard about in the paranormal genre is here messing around and making a conglomeration
that is not only hard to swallow, but annoys the mental digestion. So we got a friendly ghost over here, an unfriendly golem over there, we gotcha' basic dark fae and light fae, we got houses that fly like in the Wizard of Oz and of course, vampires and too many war mages too count. But what we don't have is a plausible story line that one can follow... Read more
Review:A greatly entertaining book, and a wonderful new installment in the Cassie Palmer series. It was jam packed full of the action, adventure, and wit that has made these books such a delight. The plot twists and continued world building were clever, and the characters were, as ever, sharp and vibrant. Rarely does a book make me laugh and want to tear my hair out at the same time as much as this one did. A very satisfying read. Read more
Review:The Preston & Child novels with Agent Pendergast are my favorite mysteries. Intelligent, well researched. Preston and Child also are excellent observers of people -- even minor characters who may appear for only a couple of paragraphs are portrayed so well I can see them clearly in my mind's eye and have a good idea what we'd be talking about over a cup of coffee.
