Review:Being a Southron born and bred I understand Bear and I celebrate his willingness to bring darkness to those who destroy and dominate. It isn’t pretty. It may not even be justifiable, but it is truth and it is honest in the honesty of a torn soul. Read more
Review:I have read the Alchemist and 11 Minutes, and read the summaries of some of the
other stories, such as Veroncia Decides to Die. All have good life lessons, BUT has
anyone noticed that the lead female characters seem to be either heavily depressed,
only able to make a living selling them selves, or easily swayed into doing evil? But
the character in the Alchemist, is a boy and he is successful, smart, and he is to
pursue his dreams above all else, while his fu... Read more
Review:As someone who returned to my church and faith after years of soul-searching, I felt strong enough in my personal beliefs to wade through this story about a controversial subject. I love books that take you on a journey, out from the armchair and out of your comfort zone. The Witch of Portobello does exactly that with a unique format of various characters narrating each chapter, creating a sort of soulful alchemy focused on the main character. Unlike the literal excursion in The Alchemist, this ... Read more
Review:This is an utterly brilliant, fantastically well written story, which is at times difficult to read. There are two elements that make it hard to read. First, the more prosaic issue is that there are multiple plot-lines and jumping between them is jarring. The second thing is the fact that Morgan writes in explicit detail about sex and some of the sex is between men. Having a gay hero *really* works. He is sympathetic and the plot elements revolving around his interactions with his family and how... Read more
Review:The Dark Defiles is the final book of Richard Morgan's fantasy trilogy that started with The Steel Remains and The Cold Commands.
I'm a huge fan of Richard Morgan, but the problem with his approach to fantasy is to take all the complexity of modern fantasy and dial it up to 10. The result is a mix of races (dwenda, aldrain, kilrathi), fantasy (magic, dark magic, and super science) and situations that would take a very long novel to explicate.
Well, The Dark Defiles is a very long n... Read more

Review:I have certainly begun to appreciate the ease in which Cheryl Bradshaw's books flow from one scene to the next, fitting perfectly and not dropping the reader's concentration. Her boyfriend's daughter is murdered, and then another murder attempt is made on the boyfriend (a chief of police) at his daughter's funeral. Surely they're connected, but how? You won't put this down for long before you pick it back up. Read more

Review:THE LAST SIN EATER by Francine Rivers
Francine Rivers has written an engaging, believable story of how one evil man can fool so many people. All the characters are presented in such a realistic setting that one has no problem understanding what has happened to an entire community. It is also a story of how God reaches into the lives of people to bring His truth to them. I would definitely recommend this book to readers who have no fear of knowing the truth about one form of evil. Read more
Review:A wonderful world; a carefully crafted, dystopian Earth in the far future, where the laws of physics have been altered to bring magic into the world. Muddy, bloody, raw and beautifully written. A 'hero'(???) I could empathise with, care for and hate in the same book. Well worth the read. Read more
