THE LAST SIN EATER by Francine Rivers

Francine Rivers has written an engaging, believable story of how one evil man can fool so many people. All the characters are presented in such a realistic setting that one has no problem understanding what has happened to an entire community. It is also a story of how God reaches into the lives of people to bring His truth to them. I would definitely recommend this book to readers who have no fear of knowing the truth about one form of evil.

Although somewhat predictable it was non-the-less enjoyable. I read it through during a long drive and a day at the beach. Any fan of Francine Rivers will not be disappointed! I'm looking forward to watching the Michael Landon Jr. produced movie of this book out on video soon.

I love the writing of Francine Rivers, and this book is no exception. There were times that I wanted the story to move along a bit quicker, so that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The plot was on a topic I was completely unfamiliar with - sin eaters. It was fascinating to learn that people groups in our country actually believed this and were blinded to the truth.

I love Francine Rivers. Have you ever done something that you are so guilty about and you just can't shake it and it's weighing you down. This is a story about that and the wonderful truth that will lead you to freedom and forgiveness.

Francine always shares Biblical truths and insights. I was especially touched by how she highlighted the reality that a child can lead us...which helped me to realize that no matter how insignificant I might feel...or inadequate, God can use me because it is His power and might and wisdom, not mine.

As a proud Appalachian woman, I hold the history and stories set in 'my' mountains very dear, and this is one of the finest I've read to date! It's right up there with 'The Song Catcher', with it's faithful adherence to the speech patterns, lore, superstitions, and ways of the proud people that settled in these beautiful but often harsh mountains. It was hard living, but there was a wild, mystical wonder about these people and the lives they carved for their families. If you love stories set in historic Appalachia, this is a must for your reading library!

This book really challenged me to think about my own habits and traditions that enslave me t o th I s world and keep me from experiencing the freedom that I have been given buy savior. Once pulverized to the dialect there is some great humor. Francine rivers write beautifully. Her passion for God s word is evident in her writing. What a blessing she is to those who enjoy historical fiction.

Read it if you have been hurt and miss understood as a child. Read it if you need to re-establish your faith in our living God! Life is full of Bullies - but you can break the chains of it with the Lord. This book helps you to see and hear God in the change of seasons, the wind and dawn breaking each day...

I never knew that sin eater actually existed till now. This is a classic story of grace and forgiveness. Told through the eyes of Cadie a 10 year old child. The secrets and misunderstandings of this community is what keep you reading, hoping that Cadie and her relationship with her mother mends. Well worth the read

This was one of Francine Rivers best books, in my opinion.
I found it hard to lay down.
It tells the story of a man that thought he could take on the sins of others after they die
and then he realized that there is only one person that can do that.
That man is Jesus Christ.

Little 10-year old Cadi Forbes, feels guilt and overwhelmed with sin. Travel with her on her search for salvation and forgiveness through the sin eater. There are several surprising twists and turns in the story. It is set in the 1880's in the mountain area settled by the Scottish. Even though there are biblical references, there is no preaching. This is the 3rd Francine Rivers novel I have read. Redeeming Love and Loeta's Garden were both great. I think Francine Rivers is now my favorite fiction writer.

Francine Rivers has never failed me, and, like in The mark of the Lion series, I didn't have a life while reading this book. Incredible, I was deeply touched by this book, so don't think twice about it.
