Review:Victor Lavalle is a literary comedian. His writing is so humorous, yet smart and ripe. This look into the mundane world of a mental hospital, will have you at times laughing out loud. There is a story here that contains elements of horror and suspense, though to me, it never feels like a horror story. At the core, I think it's about facing and destroying one's own demons. That cleverness of writing shines brightly through this novel. The plot has been well rehashed, so no need for that here, ... Read more
Review:I've enjoyed every previous one of Angel's appearances and this one is no exception. My only complaint is a small one - keeping up the conflict between Angel and her dad is starting to feel a little repetitive, with the head-butting seeming like a rerun of the last book's conflict. Not all relationships progress and that's fine, but we ended the last book feeling like a lot of improvement had been made and open this one feeling like the reset button has been set. I don't need things to be All Be... Read more

Review:This was another quirky romp in the Queen Betsy saga. As always, the wit & zippy dialogue were tasty brain candy. The Wyndam wolves (especially the future pack leader) were a nice change as well. Somehow, though, this book fell a little flat near the end with the sisters' battle. Overall, worth reading. Review:I was really looking forward to this book comming out,i really wanted it to pull my attention back as i thought the last one was lacking something (a real Plot). All the right elements where going to be there, zombies, unknown european vampires, and a friend with a possible incurable illness. However the polt just did not deliver for me.
Sorry MJD but you just aren`t grabbing my attention, and i loved the first three books.
Betsy just seems to be going no where in the last two book... Read more
Review:A little bit disappointed with the ending of this one, but it leaves the door wide open for the next book in the series to HOPEFULLY figure out what in the world is going on with Sookie and Eric. Thankfully the book and the TV Series, Tru Blood, do not go hand in hand so now spoiler alerts if you watch the show and read the books. Read more
Review:I am writing this review after rereading these books and the very first review. The author writes amazing characters that I can relate too and dreamy men I long for. She sucks you in on the first page and you can't put it down until the last page. Just read this book Read more
Review:This is a well balanced inventive fantasy. It is refreshing with a unique story line that held up well through the whole series. Good dialog, interesting and very human characters. Great balance of action, character development, motivation and plot. The twist of a girl hidden as a boy is refreshingly different. The world is full of practical and well researched detail. The use of magic feels very natural in this work. The author is now on my list of "read everything they have written." Read more
Review:The Book of M is a devastating, beautiful novel. All at once, this is an adventure story, a love story, a fantasy, a dystopia, and a meditation on memory—what it means, and how it defines us as human beings.
We begin in a secluded hideaway in the woods: for two years, our primary narrators, Ory and Max, have been living in an abandoned Virginia resort lodge, hiding from the volatile world. Outside their refuge, human shadows are disappearing. When a shadow vanishes, its body starts to for... Read more
Review:A lushly descriptive adventure through the spirit world as Li Lan endeavors to take control of her life before it is taken over by those around her. Be warned, the authors descriptions of food will make you hungry and the story itself will leave you unable to put it down. Read more
