Review:The first five stories are fantastic, but the rest have nothing to do with The King in Yellow or the Yellow Myth. They're not even Horror. Though well written, I totally believe that combination is just a horrible idea and ruins the experience for those who come to this book to be scared or, at the very least, challenged to think. Review:Ms. Haines once again delivers a captivating story. The Book of Beloved held my attention from beginning to end. I would recommend this story to mystery lovers, especially those that like paranormal activity mixed in the story. Read more
Review:A fairly good read, I liked THE TIME TRAVELERS WIFE (I think that's it) was better. Characters only marginally interesting and the whole memory thing I thought was weak. I read it for a book club; had that not been the case I might not have finished it Read more
Review:When a book’s description mentions time travel I’m usually hooked. And because I thoroughly enjoyed Peter Clines’ 14 and The Fold, I enthusiastically jumped into his latest, Paradox Bound (Crown Publishing, digital galley).
This science fiction adventure follows Eli Teague, a young IT tech who has spent most of his life preparing for the chance that he might again run into a time traveling woman he first encountered as a boy. When she does reappear, he is ready and determined to learn mo... Read more
Review:To save his family, Tobias enters a Bachelorette-esque competition, with a deadly twist. Visceral violence, steamy romance, and hidden agendas! Try not to get too attached to anyone, everyone is fair game. I’m not sure if I can survive the wait until the next book! Read more
Review:I would probably give this book 3.5 stars. Gerard has always had questions about his mother's life before he was born, but she always keeps everything cloaked in mystery. After her death, he is determined to learn the truth and travels from Australia to England. The novel has a great Victorian ghost story feel to it, and I often had cold prickles running up the back of my spine.
The book has a lot in common with The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morten. It seems rather odd how many parallels c... Read more
Review:"Crimson Peak" is an amazing movie, a gorgeous gothic feast - love story/character study/fairy tale/horror/thriller, all rolled into one. I'm normally not that crazy about novelizations of movies, but this one is a complete exception - it's beautifully done, totally engaging from beginning to end. Del Toro really crafted a film that was like a classic Victorian gothic novel, but filtered through his fantastic, unique imagination. Obviously, the author of this book (Nancy Holder) is highly skil... Read more
Review:While the writing of the book was quite good, keeping a reader wanting to turn one page after the other, the book quickly became too gruesome in description for my individual tastes [no pun here at all]. Someone might say, "What do you expect from a book about a seriel killer?!" Good point I'd respond.
The 'idea' of the story was what drew me in; however, as much as I love details in a novel, those within this story were way too repugnant for me. Read more
Review:Just as good and painfully torturing as the first one. It’s a roller coaster that makes you think it will go one way but then goes the other way.
It’s epic. Damn I want to see Syn fight more, that was epic. I love a female who knows how to handle her blades. Read more
Review:Wholly cow! I freaking love you Amelia! Not sure which book is the best because they all are so awesome. I still am in love with Ryder, but Syn is the shit! I sooooo freaking love her and maybe a little jealous as well. I can't wait for the next book to find out what comes next for Ryder and Syn along with the outcome of the current events! If you haven't read any of these books you are missing out! Hurry and start your journey with Ryder and Syn, and the rest of the crew! Oh and we can't forget... Read more
